Does anyone know what is going on with the academy given that mark litherland and Neil redfearn have both left their roles as head of academy and academy lead and performance manager?

Just had a quick search, nothing on the club website and nothing on Google. The only thing I could find was us mentioning on twitter redfearns old job was advertised and how to apply

Just all seems very odd and wonder if something is amiss somewhere or whether we are just slimming down the coaching roles/budgets

Do many clubs announce when academy staff come and go?

Very odd. Wasn't Redfearn appointed just a few months ago?

We announced them both taking up their roles, but nothing about them leaving.

It's just a bit strange how the two heads of the academy have left their roles in such a short turnaround

Maybe it’s just part of the Sharpe revolution at the club. He must of thought we could do better or they felt they couldn’t work with him. Who knows.

Or maybe they disagreed strongly about the releases, e.g. Noah Wadsworth.

The only thing I saw recently was the club tweeting that they were looking to appoint a head of performance as follows:

Possibly, T and A reporter said they both resigned at the end of the season. Can't be a coincidence

Maybe they have both got better jobs elsewhere?

Surprised at this as Redfearn has been there and done it with the Beeston lot, bringing through lots of talented footballers. Unless he's got a better offer?

CITY are eyeing a potential windfall over Premier League prospect Alvin Ayman.

The Wolves teenager has been heavily linked with the “big six” – with Liverpool expected to make their move during the summer.

Ayman joined Wolves last year from the Bantams, where he had progressed through the youth ranks from the age of nine.

Now 16, it is being reported that Liverpool are lining up a seven-figure bid – which would net his former club a “significant” amount from the sell-on clause they put in the package for all gifted academy exits.”

Thankfully it would appear to be a better deal than The EPPP compensation requirements, glad to be wrong.

This is good news because earlier reports seemed to suggest we were in line for very little, with Wolves set to benefit from the lion's share.

Will this “windfall” be used to supplement the additional funds promised by Rupp or used to pay him back so he’s not out of pocket?

For what’s it worth, I would say no, to “supplement the additional funds”. Given the ages of the youth players it could be a few years down the road before Bradford City see any real profit ( other than the initial payments). Again I suspect it’s based on first team appearances.

How much we receive from the sell-on will depend on the nature of the deal when Ayman left our academy to join Wolves. If it were under the EPPP scheme, future payments will depend on him playing for the Liverpool first team and how many appearances he makes. If he makes sufficient first team appearances, the additional fees under EPPP can exceed a million quid over time.

However, if he didn't move to Wolves under the EPPP scheme, and there was instead a negotiated deal between Wolves and ourselves, we're likely to be entitled to a share of the profit (typically 15% if it's a similar deal to previous ones) Wolves make when he transfers to Liverpool. And that would be it unless of course Wolves negotiate some kind of sell-on deal with Liverpool and he moves on later for a profit.

Either would provide the club with some welcome funds. It's either cash upfront when Wolves receive their payment from Liverpool or probably slightly higher payments later but only if and when he becomes an established PL player. Good news or possibly even better news!
