Hughes (I think) said we're very close to signing a Head of Recruitment, which is one of the two positions we should be filling.

50 % of the way there, but it looks like the club have taken their time with this appointment, which HOPEFULLY means it's someone with real quality.

We'll see.

Absolutely no word on a Director of Football, which is BONKERS considering Sparks' track record of binning off managers every 6-9 months, directly after transfer windows close, and getting the Adams appointment wrong.

Luckily Captain Junk Mail has landed on his feet with Hughes applying out of the blue!

With regards the head of recruitment appointment, I feel something isn't sitting right with someone somewhere.

We started the process shortly after Hughes came in, a couple of weeks ago when it was mentioned in the local rag, Hughes said something along the lines of we were a couple of weeks away and that we had come close twice but ultimately fell through.

That could mean, we felt the first two weren't the right fit or that we are possibly on to our third and fourth choices which is generally what happens with our transfer policy I know which way I tend to lean.

Either way, given we could be with a squad of 8 first team players or something in four weeks or so it's something that needs sorting now

 

The targeted head of recruitment is currently employed by another club. Maybe the loose ends are taking longer than expected?

 

I’ve seen DoF mentioned a few times. I saw in an article the other day that Peterborough were paying theirs £300 and their Chief Exec £150k

 

Face it they have been very fortunate that Hughes applied had he not then I feel thousands of season ticket sales would have been lost .......... they have been giving a lifeline and the powers that be should be all out to give Hughes the best of everything ......., the best staff the best budget everything is that so difficult to do ?????
I also hear that Huw Jenkins is possibly in the running to take us over and maybe more to this than the normal bull he took over Swansea in the same posistion .......he was sniffing around Charlton maybe we are an ideal project for him

 

I'd say the time being taken is less about our being super prudent and diligent, and more about no one decent wanting to touch the role.

 

We can only go on what we've been told (unless someone knows otherwise) and what we've been told is this...

Although from what I heard he has agreed to join but is completing his contractual obligations at his current club.

What were the real figures?

 

Ah but their a Championship club.................well they were under Darragh MacAnthony.

 

He didn't say, just that the figures quoted were wrong for Fry and that his CEO figures were correct but we're the lowest in the championship. To be fair that part of the story seems more of a personal attack than anything else.

 

Anybody worried about what Peterborough pay their CEO or Barry Fry are more than welcome to ask MacAnthony on his social media. I'm sure he'll be able to justify what he pays the people running his company.

I know this is Stockport but Simon Wilson's three C model is interesting.

Also this - “We wanted to operate like a Championship club from day one and slowly improve the team, and it will also help improve the team by operating at a high level.”

With teams like Stockport coming up and having momentum and backing, promotion will be a hard ask next year without a lot of effort.
