I keep seeing this comment posted mate, but as a football fan who follow the likes of Bradford City what choice do we have.
I think we would all like a sugar daddy to finance us but without one we have to relay on the Juian & Mark senario cup runs or sell an asset.
Two lotto tickets tonight £160m eho knows .

It's not so much that I'm desperate to see him spend more, my point is that he hasn't, despite what some are claiming. Even If he did, rectifying a financial mess brought about through his own incompetency hardly warrants the hero status some are giving him.

Moving on, It'll be interesting to see where we go from here. Whether this years top 3 budget was funded through a lucrative sell on fee or Rupp himself, neither is going to realistically finance us on a constant basis which puts a lot of pressure on Bowyer. If he fails to get us up after his two year contract expires then I can see us staying in this division for quite a while yet.

If that happened I can see many losing interest which will only heighten our problems further. It's a fine balance betwen not investing at all and overdoing it like we did last season. Manageable spending is what we need aswell as the fans doing their bit and paying more than £150 for a season ticket. Unfortunately there's not enough ambition amongst to do either. We'll continue to bob along wondering why we're so shîte for the rest of our existence.

Admit it you would want to ‘tinker’ with the team, if you won £160+ Million and took over the club! ;)

So if you did have coaching badges and won £160 million , would you tinker?

For me that's a reasonable consideration and I share many of your concerns, particularly if we don't gain promotion during this season or the next.

I obviously disagree with you about Rupp having not spent any money on this team. I honestly can't see how he hasn't otherwise how do you explain such a competitive budget? I'm not aware of a new lucrative source of income the club itself is generating to support it. Dont forget this budget was set prior to McBurnie being sold. As yet nobody has put forward a counter argument which proves he hasn't. The money for a top 3 budget must be coming from somewhere. What is the most logical source of this financial boost?

My final point on this subject is this. The club has set a budget each year. For it to be competitive Rupp will have committed some of his own financial backing. Last year Rahic took spending above and beyond that agreed budget. It is this overspend Rupp has had to cover the cost of. I have no issue with him recovering this debt through the McBurnie sale. In doing so the club are not in an indebted situation and that must be a good thing.

By the way. Rupp has a long way to go before he warrants a hero status.

This question has already been addressed:

"The overspend from last season was £2M. We're receiving £3M from the Mcburnie sale which would be enough to cover last season's deficit and provide an increased budget this season.

Even if it doesn't cover every single penny, £3M is enough to seize control of the situation, make the debt manageable and not require Rupp to urgently dip into his pocket."

Now l may well be wrong, but is there any evidence as to the process and timescale of the transfer of this sum? I thought that these were usually phased over a period of time, perhaps three seasons?

Absolutely, the money is highly unlikely to be an upfront windfall and will instead come through in installments.

Additionally Tolly's argument ignores the fact the budget was set long before the McBurnie transfer ever happened. I.E. Rupp committed money to cover the overspend and also sanctioned a top 3 budget for League 2. Again, how's this been funded because it wasn't relient on the McBurnie sale?

Why has our budget become more competitive since the arrival of Rupp if he is not backing us?

Here's what Rhodes confirmed in an interview with the Yorkshire Post back in March:

“We will have a real go next season - regardless of the division we are in - with a competitive budget in place to take us forward."

“A challenging summer is ahead of us but Stefan will back the club and everything we do.”

As I said to Jon, If all the reports are wrong and Rupp has indeed covered the debt through his own pocket then I look forward to a £3M investment in the squad.

Our budget wasn't reliant on the Mcburnie sale but it's still the Mcburnie money that's funding it. This makes praise for Rupp's financial commitment misplaced as it's so far been non existent. When he does actually dip into his pocket THEN I'll thank him. At the moment all he's done is use millions generated from the club to payoff off 2 season's worth of monumental overspending- both self inflicted. How do I know all this? It's what the club have told us. There are several articles available which reveal our debt, this season's budget and tell us exactly where the Mcburnie money is going. You're just not having it though. You're hellbent on arguing against genuine, tangible evidence so you can spout your slightly more romantic narrative of Rupp pumping millions into the club despite not having a single thing to back it up.

Yes, there have been lots of fine words expressed about how Rupp will get behind the club and as Rhodes himself said a couple of months ago, Rupp had pledged to cover the deficit. Note JR's use of the phrase 'pledged to cover' rather than 'has covered'.

But despite all of these fine words, the reality is that Rupp has put nothing substantial of his own money into club. There is nothing at Companies Hiouse which contradicts this and there is no evidence of any more investment going into the club from Rupp's own pocket. The idea that he has put millions into the club isn't borne out by any hard, tangible evidence.

If people want to believe otherwise that's up to themselves and are free to share their own hard evidence that this has happened. But as you say, we have received substantial funds already from sell-ons from the Wells move to Burnley, the Wisdom moved to Derby and of course the Wyke sale to Sunderland. And now we have the McBurnie deal which as some have suggested is being paid in instalements. Those instalments are all being paid this season mirroring the deal agreed between the Blades and Swansea.

If anybody really believes that Rupp has put his own hard cash into the club, let's see some hard evidence to support that, not just interviews from the newspapers. In this area, it isn't sufficient to rely upon supposition and beliefs.

Rupp said he would cover the overspend debt, He never said he would repay it, As one of our members who is well in to the club accounts posted there has been no extra investment recorded to show he has put extra money in, He simply guaranteed it to the banks in the hope the club not himself would be able to settle the loss in the future, As has happened that is what has happened with the McBurnie money now used to do that with a little bit extra for the club or himself,

Just a mild example of what I mean - on more than one occasion last season, NKP gave up during games. Blatantly gave up. In a season that ended with our relegation.

Hes back today for the opposition, his name is read out beforehand and he gets applauded by the City fans. Maybe he'll get booed in the game, but why applaud him?
