Sadly I think all Bradford City have that’s big is the ground. The mentality of recent years has been small club, no drive, no urgency, no ambition. Let’s see where we end up, a shared will to get in to league one and see where that takes us, have no right to get promoted, can’t challenge the salary cap, can’t sign players before the salary cap because that’s unfair, not letting him go without significant compensation and then paying him to go.
Sparks talks the talk and wants better but for too long Bradford City have been small time thinkers and a small time club.

Andy Cook's ratio of goals since joining us is indeed very good considering he is on his own up front and as you say feeding off very limited supply

I have tried to find statistics which set out the number of goals we have scored from either free kicks or corners. I can’t readily locate anything.
It seems to me that we haven’t scored any from set pieces for ages and even if we have then as you say the conversion rate is (very) poor.

That's a very good argument, but the flaw in it is they haven't used Vernam/ Cranshaw and Stevens enough to test out the winger situation and haven't played Burrell at all. He's not even been on the bench as their ultra negative approach preferred Donaldson to help out the defence.

I get Rowe not working and being a gamble, but why haven't they tried Burrell alongside Cook to see if that worked ?

I thought we were one of only two who voted against the salary cap

Apparently so, the noises from the club were they didn’t want it but once the cap started it Sparks said it couldn’t be challenged, which was wrong, other clubs signed decent players on good wages before the cap came in. City did nothing so they could see what happened. All that happened was we started this season with four strikers who have scored fewer than 20 between them all season.
Last summer was as amateur hour as you could imagine.

In the latest press conference Mark Trueman once again referred to the team that played against Salford as the core group which will be at City next season.
It sounds as though we can't expect changes for Scunthorpe match.
No one asked him why he wouldn't play Novak and Cook together.

Two up front? Are you insane?

How on earth would the other 8 outfield players cope if we just went all out attack like that.

Well said. I find it remarkable some didn't enjoy the Parky era. The laughable thing is some are saying they wouldn't take him back when it would be very much Parky who would be doing us a favour. He wont comeback. He got Bolton up and you can forgive him what happened at a crisis club in Sunderland.

The bloke is a City legend. Those who think otherwise must have just been stood in the bogs during the games when he was here. What I saw was a League Two promotion and a remarkable Capital One Cup run, as well as a good FA Cup run. We played it long at times, meh.

They were golden years which will forever be looked back on fondly here.

I do take your point, all I am saying is they are a relative unknown commodity at the moment. You can't just simply write off the impact they had when they came in and took over a team playing dreadfully with a woefully low morale. They did what was required to steer us away from danger and granted for now they are favouring the tactic of trying to snatch a win.

All I am saying is they have hinted at a more expansive style of play next season (I appreciate words sometimes mean nothing) and therefore if they appeared to show some of this in next two games then maybe they do deserve a shot.

Personally I probably would make a change but we do need to put in place a long term plan and for that reason I would go for Phil.

Yes, you can write of the impact they had when they came in because most would have had the same impact.
You can also judge from when we were safe and they have played woeful, boring tactics.

Yes, we need a long term plan for sure but it has to be with the right manager.

"Forgive him what happened at a crisis club in Sunderland". Have a look at the League One table, and see what Lee Johnson has done. Sunderland knew what they were doing when they got rid of Parkinson and Parkin, but kept Allamby and Butler.

Phil gave us some good times, but had the good fortune to have Nahki Wells at City.

    His level is League Two.

That is simply not true though is, yes they righted many wrongs that a lot of fans had highlighted but that does not mean most would have done the same.

Fair point on how we have played since that though, it does smack of they have taken us as far as they can. Although you do have to remember that under PP it was dire in his first half of a season and whilst his football was not necessarily dynamic you could see a plan the following season.

Turning it on its head, if we had appointed an established manager (say Hurst) and he did the exact same as T&S - would we be thinking that with a summer window the future could be bright?

I am not saying they are the answer, but if the alternative is another journeyman type manager then I'd stick with them - however if there is a chance of PP then we go get him.

At least know what you’re talking about if you’re going to make a comment like this. My boss is a season ticket there and Johnson is doing poor to the fans. Like us with the playoffs they feel he’s totally bottled the autos, they haven’t won in 7 and oh yeah he now has a worse win ratio than Parkinson there. So not sure what you mean at look what Johnson is doing, because manager after manager have failed there.

Ask Bristol City fans for their views. 'Always the Bridesmaid, never the bride' Not a winner. In my view he will be gone by October as the billionaire U.S. owners get desperate.

What like Klopp will be German National manager? That view?

Bradford City currently don't have winners as managers so we can't really talk about Johnson.

What I do know about Johnson is that he does a great presentation.
