Are you actually a City fan - quoting Hurst with glee is actually quite embarrassing if you are

Yes I have to agree, it was the clubs fault where we were in December it’s not like we’re the scrappy underdogs going into this league we were well down on where we as a club should expect to be. That wasn’t T & S’ fault and they did well to get us out of the pure dirt, however are we kicking on performance wise? I think Cheltenham were the last team we were better than which is a while ago and a fair few wins ago, too many of the games are drab affairs which we rely on gifts like the most recent example of the worst team in the country Grimsby who had 10 men. We were actually better today than then, but anyone with a brain could see it was such a poor performance that any other team with 11 men on the field would beat us comfortably if we didn’t improve dramatically and that’s what happened.

Even if results have kept us to a decent level performances have nosedived since they became permanent. Fordy was laughed out of the door for suggesting it but just look at the change in mind set, when they first came in they were saying we can beat anyone, we’ll focus on our strengths and the team can go places with some confidence. Since then we’ve heard it was important not to lose against a team below us, and it was important to hold onto the 3 points against the worst team in the league with 10 men. After each scrappy win we hear the same lines about it doesn’t matter as long as we get the win, well in McCalls second spell it proved long term performances do matter, those that perform best are in the top 3/7. It’s a worrying mindset that has leaked onto the pitch imo.

I just hope some fresh faces and a full pre season can see us get some real structure to our play, instead of being hard to beat an hoping for a gift or the ball to just fall at our feet.

Completely agree. No hard feelings, much gratitude for what they’ve done, but we can’t be sentimental.

That will be Sunderland like backing that Lincoln, Cheltenham, Accrington, Burton, Shrewsbury, Oxford, Gillingham, Doncaster and Crewe have got? That and five years to get over Rahic are piss poor excuses to explain the failures of Rupp and Rhodes in my opinion

Sellers still harping on about building momentum for next season in the T&A this morning. Does he not realise how daft that sounds on the back of 6 games without a win and only one game left?

I think the mistake Ryan made was when he changed T&S's job title to interim managers from caretaker managers. I said at the time it was a pointless change and made no sense because essentially, nothing had changed. However, had he changed it to interim managers until the end of the season, it would have made perfect sense and wouldn't have left him with potential egg on his face again in respect of managerial contracts.
I think anyone that is still of the opinion that T&S should remain in their current posts going forward needs to ask themselves if they would still be saying that had they only been contracted to the end of the season. Would they honestly be saying their contracts should be extended into next season if that was the case? Or would they be saying 'thanks for all you did, it is truly appreciated, but it looks and feels like you have taken us as far as you can for the time being so it is time to move on'?

If such was to happen at BCFC, I just feel 'getting rid of a manager 'statements would not be made in the next 48-72 hours, in respect to the anniversary.

The anniversary isn’t till tomorrow and has no relevance to who’s manager of the club . I can understand maybe not tomorrow but see no issue with today

To be fair to Sparks, he was on a hiding to nothing whatever he did. Give T&S a contract until this season was done. The team goes on an unbelievable run, goes up, other clubs come sniffing around with more money and they leave. The fans are up in arms that they weren't given longer deals. Or, what we've seen happen, where giving them 18 months looked premature. Either way was a gamble without knowing just which way the cards were going to fall.

    Exactly.

If we don't get into the play-offs, it won't have been because of the 45 points we've already gained under T&S in the past half-season. It will be because of the puny 13 points we achieved in the first third of the season under the previous manager!

God forbid Bradford City being mid table in the 4th division brings out negativity in fans after a poor performance against a team with 10 men bottom of the league. T & S have done brilliantly, however the club shouldn’t be where it is in the first place. Until the club stops going through managers like they’re going out of style, and the club shows it’s truly stable on and off the pitch then there will be negativity when we play poor.

If we get into the playoffs that’s some achievement by T & S, but not by the club. Pre season most would have agreed playoffs was an absolute minimum.

I don't understand the arrogant view that just because we're Bradford City we should be dicking this league. Size of support, budgets etc don't guarantee success.
Recruiting the right people to the right roles, together with the right structure in place to support them is what the foundations of success look like.
Before T&S took over we had a terrible recruitment infrastructure which has/had left us with a mixed bag of decent, average and poor players.
They'd barely got going before the January window came around. We had a fairly decent window. A lot of the dross was moved out and some decent players came in. Largely down to having Mr Turnbull working behind the scene.
Over the last few months we've improved enormously but we aren't the finished article. I think that if you asked T&S if there was still much to improve they'd agree. But of course they're not going to publicly say so. That would undermine what they're trying to achieve with this squad.
As @River_City_Bantam@River_City_Bantam and @Idlebantam@Idlebantam have already touched on; T&S are young men in their first managerial role. Cut 'em a break. They're still learning but have shown a remarkable maturity so far. As I've said before they've out foxed more experienced managers time and again this season. Some of whom those wanting a change would happily have has their replacement.
This team is top 10 but promotion material? I think we're not ready. We're too light in critical areas but we've the backbone of a good team. A few decent recruits in the summer can easily turn this team into a top 3 team.

Said this before, they are victims of their own success. Over their tenure the form is automatic promotion form so any talk of them not being here for the foreseeable future is ridiculous. Unlucky in a sense that Cooke picked up an injury as he was pivotal to our success. Novak to to a lesser extent. I think they realise there is still a lot of work to do with the squad strengthening, only Canavan and Cook out of the January signings have been a hit, the others not really doing enough to justify a place in the eleven. Without strengthening in the summer i would question the notion that this squad could be as successful next season, the weaknesses are there and Trueman knows it. Midfield needs quality in the centre and upfront has more questions than answers.

They have done a brilliant job mate, I don't think there is any criticism with regards where we were and where we are now, the concerns are can they take us to the next level as we've seen that when we get (one or two bad results;)) they seem unable to pull it around, and for me that's a worry going into a new 2021/22 season, I don't think its unreasonable for fans to ask these sort of questions.
