TBF, the average wage in L1 for season 23/24 was £8,300 a week I think from the Kieran Maguire dive into books. So the very mediocre/average player is on about the average wage for the division.

We need to start getting to grips with this new world of spending and fast.

 

He has corrected this now, the average weekly wage in League 1 was £3,700.

 

This was partly my fault as I copied his intial message onto this forum

He then subsequently amended his meesasge as @Robert Molenaar correctly points out.

As our recruitment team have just put together the 2nd best defence in the league we were in, I'm happy to give them the benefit of the doubt until I've seen them play together, even where the consensus (for example of Tilt) might be that a player isn't rated. They certainly have more credibility from judging it last season than you do.

Regarding your specific question, I feel Kelly and Baldwin would be able to do it in the league above, I'll reserve judgement on Tilt, though it doesn't look great from people's reaction, and I'd be hoping to get in two more better than what we have already which we likely will. I'm more concerned about how they replace Smallwood and who we sign up front - I think we're more likely to struggle to solve those issues

 

Just having a read at some of the Rumours, with signing Power & Tilt, both captains. Rumours of McGowan and Pearson, both captains. Are we trying to sign a squad full of captains to consolidate a league one position for 2-3 years, to then add to the squad once it's an established league one club/we have new owners, so we can push on?

Absolutely .

 

Apart from McGowan, all these "captains" will be 33/34/35 ish in 2 or 3 seasons. I don't think we will be having that many guys in their mid 30s at once.

Too many chiefs could be a worry with so many current "leaders" perhaps? All new voices too rather than the ones that might have been here 2 or 3 seasons and earnt leadership clout with the boys.
