Agree with everyone saying we need some League One experience. When does Oliver's deal run out?

Very soon and 1 we should celebrate. Pound for pound, one of the most useless signings we have ever made. Apparently made over half a million from us.

    Let that sink in.

Not for me. He’s struggled with injuries and hasn’t had much game time since leaving us. Also don’t see where he would fit into the current system- a good winger doesn’t necessarily make a good wingback.

I saw him more of an AM, looked to have the traits anyway...we used him as a WG but similar to Bobby from memory but with a bit more pace.

Agree on injury. Think it was a 1 off though. Not played much but he is at Bundesliga level. Has to be taken into account.

St Pauli are in the Bundesliga TBF. Its a cut above L1! Missed 5 ganes through injury last season. Was on the bench unused towards end, with a few cameos.

Just a name I saw as available anyway.

The fact that both loan spells he's had whilst being on our books have been in the league above never ceases to amaze me.

I don't know how the parachute payments work but they should be ringfenced to players contracts that were in play whilst in the Premier League. That's what they were designed for wasn't it? So clubs wouldn't collapse without premier league money (and all that comes with it) being unable to pay for deals they were contracted to. If a relegated club sold off all their highly paid assets from PL days then there's no reason to receive the parachute payments. But maybe that is how it works. I've no idea.

Another ex player suggestion- Lee Evans.

Signed for Blackpool in 24 but would probably be available for a loan if the thread below is anything to go by:

Not sure why his form dropped off so dramatically as he seemingly started last season very well for them. Clearly a Championship quality player on his day but would he be too much of a risk now?

He's on the bench in the Bundesliga, he ain't playing league one. He's levels above that.

He has played a total of 92 minutes this season. He is 24 start of next season so I dont see him continuing playing 1 full game a year, or St Pauli offering him a new deal. He is out of contract...

Looking at his resume, doesnt look to be amything on there that will jump out to Championship suitors. Maybe Bundesliga 2 if he wants to stay in Germany or possibly SPL if he fancies return up north.

It isn't ring fenced at all. Relegated former PL clubs receive the parachute payments for the bext 2 or 3 years (depending on how long they'd been in the PL) to allow them to adjust financially to the realities of life in the EFL after their relegation. But they can spend the money as they wish. A couple of years ago, Watford did exactly what you described .. and even managed to turn a profit from their player sales. The amounts being quoted on here are a little exaggerated - Luton's will be £39mill next season not £60mill - but it's still a considerable amount. Luton again have already said they'll be using much of theirs to help fund their new stadium!

There is a lot of ill feeling in the Championship about the unfair advantage those clubs in receipt of parachute payments have. But I doubt the PL clubs will willingly change the parachute regime. You never know when individual clubs might need it!

If he plays below championship level I'll come on here and admit I'm wrong. I won't need to though.

Should find out in the next few months. Clearly not cut out for Bundesliga level though. And I dont see the attraction for a Championship team. 29 games at L2 level most he managed in a season!
