Played over 100 games at Championship level so he's no mug. I guess there is some caveat with it, injuries seem to limited his game to some extent. one decent season game wise looking at his record. Gook luck to the lad.

 

Should really be the rest of his contract. That’s what contracts are for. Despite not being in favour with the current manager he’s perfectly entitled to the whole lot.

Really happy with the 11 men we have signed this window.

I am giving us a very solid B for our business. We havent signed a marquee but we have identified where the weaknesses were and improved. Add to that players like Leigh and T Wright looking far better in their new positions.

And we still have Richards, Kavanagh and Cook to come back. Its a strong starting 11 and competetive second 11 IMO.

 

So when all the cb’s are back and fit, do we “lose” one next window? Will we be overstocked? I think so and think that Byrne or Kelly might be considered surplus. I actually think Kelly is the better defender of the two but his distribution is, er, interesting. Byrne seems very popular with GA so he will probably stay.

 

Negotiation though....we probably dangled a carrot.

Option A - sit and rot and get your entire wage

Option B - here is 50% now in a lump sum, leave and go and get yourself a new deal

Id wager option B. We save on half his wages, Smith gets money for nothing, finds a new club, gets to play football and gets paid in a new deal.

PS 50% an example but very much doubt it was 100%. May aswell keep him around if it was!

 

Will he have been signed in time to be included?. Even if he has, a bit of an ask to be thrown straight in, no matter the competition.

Well Pennington and Tilt have knocks so doubt they are risked. He may have to play.

You are never overstocked with central defenders . The last two seasons have proved that and we haven’t had any suspensions yet .
Do we want to see Richard’s or Halliday in the back three ever again? ( or Ridehalgh ?)

 

Well there was talk on here of maybe a Halliday or Pattison leaving, but it's a squad game and they will get their chances.

There is a lot of talk about the 11 who have signed, but it is important to stress the importance of getting the right ones out and keeping the right ones.

 

The registration rules look to be the same as the league registration rules, if they are then he won't be able to play tomorrow as he would have had to have been registered by noon today which he won't have.

 

Possibly but he may have signed this morning. Signing a player and announcing a player are 2 different things.

 

I think that is what happens when managers are sscked....thats why Graham Potter sat on his arse for 2 years after Chelsea sacking. Huge pay out.

So possible for players too I guess.

 

Do we have one or two free slots for registration? GA has shown he will use the free agent market if required

 

Should get all his basic salary,but there will be no appearance money,win bonus,top half of the table bonus,that sort of thing that can make a big difference to a players income.

 

Is it just Metcalfe, Pointon and Kavanagh that dont need registering?

If so we have 21 outfields that need registering.
