By the way rovers have only ever paid that or more once in their history and that was for Billy Sharpe 13 years ago

I've no problem with a player have representation to help get them the best deal but for me they are employed by the player and not the club so any fees incurred should also be paid by the player.

Which ever way it's done the club still pays. If it's by the player the fees will be added to his salary and then he pays, or it's paid to the agent and knocked off the players salary. Either way the club still pays.

You are questioning how Doncaster have £500k to spend in L1....tells its own story.

Get with the times. It aint 2020.

Today's T&A says GA has a position in mind to bring one further player in but no names yet. He said it could go down to the last day or two of the window.

Also, doesn't need an exit to bring someone in.

Well we ain't paying that sort of money for a player anytime soon.

GA wanting one more in before end of month, and sounds like a loan signing.

Any idea on a position? I can’t think where we really need another body? I’d prefer another left centre half as I don’t rate Kelly at all but would be pointless giving him a new deal

That's a complete turnaround from what he was saying last week which is good, but the most exciting part of the article is that Cooky doesn't sound too far away from a return.

Which will be like a new signing in itself.
    Damn. I said it.

I was listening to an EFL podcast last week or week before ish and he said there were only 6 or 7 clubs that have yet to spend over £300k on one player in L1 so far this summer, which were the 4 promoted clubs, Cardiff and i cant remember the others, Reading maybe? A vast majority of the league are forking out decent 6 figure fees for players..

But they were talking about Stockport spending £1m on the winger from Peterborough and it was before they confirmed Mills but that's another rumoured £1m, talking about big fees on guys who hadn't done much in L1 before. The Posh lad had a half decent season playing up front but a lot of his goals where pens, and Mills had 15 or so games on loan for Stockport last season but are happy to part with £1m in cash for him. Within the next 2 or 3 windows at this rate, £500k fees for L1 players are just going to be accepted as a standard rate.

Even some County fans don’t rate their new signings very highly. Funny old game innit?

That isnt the point though - Doncaster spending £500k on a decent L2 striker is hardly surprising or shocking.

Sounds like Donny tried to sign Street again from Lincoln but they wanted more for him than Notts want for Jatta. Notts have shown with Crowley and others that if they aren't going to stay, they are more than happy to sell them with 12 months left on their deal. Be interesting to see if Jatta can do it in L1.

Folk need to move on and evolve their mindset, we are in L1 now and teams in this division will spend that amount like it is nothing. These are the same ones that would happily give away players of value for a couple of hundred thousand.

Can we really count Powell as a new signing and realistic option for game time? He has hardly played in past couple of seasons and is here for rehab according to GA - still think it is a cosy, uninspiring addition when we should be maximising the position of strength surrounding the whole club at present with real ambition

Where do we all think this one extra signing will play? I must admit we are looking like a pretty large squad at the minute, and I'm struggling to think where we would fit one more? I would have said striker, given we only have Humphrys & Swan at the minute. But in the space of the next month, we'll have Kav and Cook back too with 4 people fighting over 1 shirt. Powell has played up top too but looks more a midfielder now.

Maybe CB? If Byrnes injury is worse than thought, maybe a youth loan CB until Jan or something?

It's a fair challenge and we've been burnt with a similar background in a player over the last couple of years. The recruitment does feel better this summer though so I'm prepared to give it till Christmas and see how much hes played and then make a call.

On the rehab point, what GA was saying is that he is going to treat him as a player who has gone through a long injury and is now in rehab so I guess that means introducing him slowly and building up minutes and matches?
