Summer 2025 transfer rumours

Probably because losing Shepherd, Adaramola and Khela was a bit of a distruption.

 

I’m pleased with this over Hunt and the other guy we had training with us - if and it’s an if we can keep him fit it’s a good signing

Derek didn't want the disruption of losing the loan players in January. I think we signed Jamie Walker & Dion Pereira on loan in the January.

 

We have possibly had a go at a few loan players. Surely we enquired about Nathan Lowe and possibly George Abbott, 2 of L2s best players last term. Both ended up in L1.

 

That's true. GA has said one they were working on didn't come off and for all we know, our initial enquiries about Metcalfe may have been with a view to bringing him in on loan.

 

GA said bringing Metcalf in was either a loan for the season or a full time deal. It was wholly dependant on Everton’s decision whether to keep him on their books or not. Thankfully they thought he was surplus to requirements so a sale and fee was agreed . Happy days.

 

I think we will see movement out before the deadline, maybe a couple of surprises?, and 1 or 2 loan players coming in.

I would not be unhappy if we didn't add to the current squad. We do appear to have good cover for each position now.

 

Halliday, Pattison and Kavanagh - If a good offer came in and player wanted it I doubt we would stand in their way. Ideally we keep all 3 and I very much doubt we are actively looking to sell.

 

Other than up to three outgoings in Wilson, Smith and Odour , I think that’s it . His work will come in trying to keep last seasons “ go to “ players ,, now possibly on the squad or bench fringes happy ? They will get their opportunities but later on or in “ cup” fixtures.

 

I think Halliday will want away, and wouldn't be surprised to see Pattison go. Hopefully not though.

 

Who would have thought just a few months ago we would have been remotely suggesting that players you mention might not get much game time?
The step up in quality has thus far been amazing for us to think along those lines.
They will get their time for sure , but as I said yesterday , some may actually want away , one reason is because they have less than a year left etc etc and all its connotations of not getting game time on their CV.
I think they will get game time , but it’s about keeping them happy ?

I agree - we want a squad and a day out at Wembley in the Johnstones Paint so a good squad is vital. But the 3 I mentioned are all out of contract in the summer so if an offer was to come in it may suit all parties.

 

Kav isnt fit. Why would a club sign an injured player?
