According to GA Pattison has been carrying a niggling injury for some time I think they are giving him as long as possible. Sarcevic looks knackered after ten minutes every match but keeps coming up with those moments

Sarcevic, Pointon, Lapslie, Wright, Humphrys, Pattison, Leigh, Kavanagh, Swan and even Odour have all played games in the 10 role in our current squad. Just exactly how many do we need?

True. We maybe have an impending departure because GA said 1 out and 1 in the other week. Which is why Hunt wasnt signed.

Hopefully its Oduor or Smith. Kavanagh looks like he has very limited game time atm though....even more so when Cook is back.

We do have alot of 'options' but Sarc has an injury in him and Bobby needs to be protected, cant run him into the ground.

Pattison and Leigh are CM options at this point and we only have 4. Swan and Kavanagh are CF options and we only have 3 currently.

Lapslie is a solid option and Odour is shit and will be off.

We could go on without Powell but he is also a welcome addition IMO. We arent overstocked with 'solid AM' options currently. A couple of injuries in the AM/CF roles and we look like we are down to square pegs. Its a long season as we found out in the final quarter last season!

Yeh if everyone stays fit then GA gunna struugle to keep everyone happy.

1 or 2 of you will be clutching your chests at this but the Powell signing looks like a utility type.

CM/AM/SS. Experienced, has quality, Sharpe knows his character from Wigan days.....he is getting a pay off from Stockport so maybe he is coming to us on a decent weekly wage (for our budget), incentivised by a top up for staying fit? Cant imagine we are breaking the bank for someone who has struggled to stay fit last season.

If his game time needs managing then our squad can more than cope with it.

I guess I'm just hoping we can move some players on. The squad is bloated for sure and it'll be difficult to keep the harmony I feel if we can't reduce numbers soon.

Yeh the obvious 3 and possibly 1 more....id have said Tyriek but GA putting his trust in him.

Is Kav surplus when Powell arrives? Cook making progress in return. A loan out move?

By 'some time' does he mean since he signed for us?

Surely, when Kavanagh is fit,he will take Wright's place on the bench.

    At the moment...

Halliday, Richards, Kelly, J Wright, Metcalfe, Pattison, Lapslie, T Wright, Powell, Kavanagh and Swan are fighting for 6 shirts.

Byrne and Cook back soon too.

Thats a very solid 2nd string 11 btw.

Joe Wright isn't fighting for a shirt.
    He's a guaranteed starter.

In my eyes replacing Kav with Powell would be the wrong way forward for the club - not that i think this will happen.
Might be some logic that Pattos constant injuries are causing more concern than GA has let on publicly and with Powell we might just about have one fit player between them throughout the season! ;)

Was talking to one of the coaches at the club yesterday and he suggested that the club are building a squad to trouble the play offs and the pizza/ldv vans/ paint trophy is something they're going out to win this season.

He is currently injured and when he returns he may well be. Regardless, a CB misses out and will take a shirt on the bench.

Makes sense. Decent money in the pizza cup.

GA a fan. Won with Salford and 2 semis with us.

Sounds like Kav won't be fit this month so I doubt he'd leave this window. Alexander was saying he's training but still getting back to fitness and a few weeks away from playing. Given he doesn't throw players back in, it could be end of September before he starts a game.

Not for me. Wright covers the lwb slot too so if Wright wasn't on the bench he'd probably have to be replaced by Halliday to keep the balance anyway.

Late Sept and the build up to Xmas is going to be a luxury time for GA. Cook , Kav, both to return . Someone is going to be extremely disappointed. My money is on Kav , even taking into account various cup competitions ?

It's the first day of the 2026/27 season.
Is Andy Cook at 35 in the squad with a new contract??
Or Kav, 22 years old with a new contract, who has better League stats for goals and assists than Bobby Pointon right now.
