It’s a Hell no from me, have we learnt nothing from Callum Johnson signing? Stockport are getting rid for a reason… how and why every year do be bring in these types. Suppose Kelly, Richard’s and Patto need some company in the treatment room where they’ll spend the season in and out.

I don't think they said he wasn't good, what they said was he's defensive.

I don't feel that's true. He's capable of getting forward but has either been previously asked to stay more back or not get forward as much. We will definitely see him needing to get forward more so let's see how he goes. We haven't seen much of his crossing yet. That will be another interesting point to look at.

Setting aside the discussion on injury which everyone has commented on, what is his position?

Is he central midfield? Would he be competing with Power/Leigh/Metcalfe? Maybe Pattison?

We need another option in there with some energy really. I was hoping for a Khela type profile but not exactly like for like.

Hes naturally a 10 who has previously played striker

But he has played cm for us albeit in a 442 diamond so not sure how he would suit in 3421 as a cm.

He started his career as an number 10 or left winger then had a spell as a striker, later in his career he's moved back to more of a CM role so I'd imagine he'll be an option to play alongside Power or in one of the 10 positions.

Glad to hear Touray's doing well for you & if he has a 'mare at our place next week I can probably guarantee Sarc will balance things out by scoring against us! Might even pop a few quid on it

Powell feels like a bit of a gamble given his injury record i hope he's not costing a lot

If the stats are accurate then “ on his day” seems to lack quantity .

Not sure about Powell. I suppose it is worth a gamble, but why bring a player in who is currently injured? Plus our pressing game requires really fit players. The recruitment has been good, maybe GA will wave his magic wand over him and make him a first class striker.

I still cant really see the fit with this on either. It looks like the last time he had a good run of games was January to late Feb 2023, and for that spell he was playing central midfield rather than any of the attacking roles.

Unless GA sees him as a striker? But by the time Powell is back to fitness, so will Cook. There's a tonne of people in the attacking mid slots. If we've brought in Powell as a utility guy to cover many roles in case of emergency, then fine, but surely there are younger, cheaper and fitter options on loan we could look into? I think this is the most head scratching GA signing we've made for sure.

It is if it’s actually true? We have a local ITK journalist called Parker, I’ll leave it there;)

The Stockport journalist might as well open a Bantams column after the last year or so!

It's a big fat NO from me. Powell is finished, plus where would he play and whose place would he take? Leave this one alone.

I did wonder if we'd be in for another attacking midfielder following the comments about Humphrys being a striker and not an AMC. Can't see Power playing CM with Power/Leigh/Metcalfe/Patterson already competing for those 2 spots.

Means we now have Power (if he signs) Pointon/Sarc/Lapslie & Wright for the 2 AMC positions and Humprhys/Swan/Kav & Cook for the sole striker place.

Its a stacked squad and competitive across all positions which is good but will be a fair few unhappy players to handle unless some are off. Wright or Lapslie maybe, possibly even Patterson if GA does thinks Power (if he signs) can play CM.

I can't get used to the fact we're in a position to be signing players with the pedigree of Nick Powell - and not only that, we're questioning the wisdom of such a move. what a time to be alive.

He's a perfect fit for a position we don't utilise, namely a central position in a middle 3 playing behind a striker. It'd be a very confusing signing.
