Summer 2025 transfer rumours

Sharpe and sparks have both said this summer and beyond would be looking at players at L1 level regardless of whether we got promoted or not.

 

Well we can now look at the recruitment for next season now we are up. I think around half the squad need to be shifted.

 

Absolutely across all parts of the team. Will be an interesting summer now

 

Their lad Bond today was very good!

 

GK - could be improved upon
RB - ditto
CB - We had a solid defence, but it was made up of Huntington - who’s getting on
Shepard - Going back to Barnsley
Crichlow - could probably step up to League One
Kelly - a backup at best
Byrne - Don’t even want to talk about it
Baldwin - being unable to hold his tongue aside, decent enough to step up

so 2/3 bodies there

LB - someone to compete with Richard’s as he’s injury prone

CDM - Don’t think Smallwood is good enough for L1. And a backup for him

CM - Good enough. just need some cover when Patto, Sarc get injured

CAM - a replacement for Walker

Wingers - dunno if We’l play with em or not but need an upgrade on Wright

ST - Cook won’t be back till December. Mellon’s contract is up at Burnley, leaving us with just Kavanagh on the books

Long story short, Rupp needs to pull his chequebook out

 

Here is food for thought in regards to what we will be up against next season.

In the same league with Luton Town who will receive another £60 million plus in parachute payments next season to go on top of the £60 million plus they got this season

 

That system stinks ….From first to last . That’s what Sky largess provides .

League one now isn't the league one we left, money will need to be spent and a lot of it to get competitive. We need 3 new cbs replacements for Walker Odour and Tayo and a new strike force. Bobby will need to find an extra yard of pace Patto and Sarce will need to step up a bit more.

I'd like to see us be ambitious enough to be looking at the top 6 rather than the bottom 6. Yesterday showed the country and prospective players what our ground can be like. The sleeping giant might be waking up so let's get our balls out in the transfer market and ride the crest of that wave.

First player in for me should be Conteh from Bristol Rovers

 

Agree , he was o/s for Grimsby a couple of seasons ago . Ran the show . He would be a signing and half !

 

Doesnt surprise. He is from Bradford, lives local, available on a free, league 1 experience, good goal scoring record, an area we need 2-3 players. Ticks alot of boxes.

 

In a poor L2 division. L1 is different gravy.

Plus Shepherd is off. Kelly and Johnson are out of contract and Byrne is shite. Im not sure GA fancies Crichlow. If you think we should stand still you are foolish.

 

That would be utterly foolhardy and a receipe for coming straight back down !

 

If he is signed to boost numbers and replace a released Johnson/Huntington and an outgoing Byrne then wouldnt be the worst replacement.

We need 2 of L1 quality to compliment what we already have.

Brutally honest...i dont think either are good enough for us in L1. Both are loans, and would come back as loans. The loan market availability has increased vastly now and we can find better players IMO.

Both did a good job at L2 but they both have glaring limitations and I think we need/can do better.

 

We need L1 experience, pace, guile, injury free record, quality but not too old. A great shopping list alongside getting shut of Byrne, Odour, Smith, Leigh. I'd not keep any of the out of contract players apart from Smallwood. Who would be Sharpe in the coming weeks ;-)
