No, GA said just said we had 2 loans targetted. No other specifics.

Reminds me of last summer when I was told we would only bring in 3 or 4 new players.

Just seen Tomkinson is still available on a free. That does surprise me as looked decent here. Not sure if its wages ir wants a move back to USA but he has alot of upside.

Always got the feeling GA wasnt totally convinced by him but then we were rumoured back in January and 1 or 2 claimed he turned us down.

GA has been contradictory in a short space of time a fair few times now in his time at City. Always tend to take what he says with a pinch of salt.

I'm guessing if we wanted 2 more pre Metcalfe, the one remaining slot is a striker? We seem fairly stacked everywhere else.... 3 keepers (depending on what we do with Hadi), 6 CBs, 4/5 WBs (depending on where you class Tyreik), a fair few CM options now, a fair few to play off the striker and it's looking like just Swann and Kav until maybe the end of 2025 depending on how Cook progresses?

A Sanderson type loan maybe? Who knows he's coming in to make up the numbers but will still be there to provide a role until Jan maybe more in the Pizza Car Bristol trophy thing.

It’s clear that Metcalfe is a loan enquiry that turned into a permanent signing. Weeks ago the manager said they had identified two loan players which wouldn’t happen till much closer to the season

I think if they continue to play Humphrey in the position he played on Wednesday he won’t be the success we all hoped. We need another frontman

Yes it is. But GA never said we wernt chasing permanents. He just said we were chasing 2 players on loan.

You just assumed we would sign 2 more players on loan and that would be it! Told us a few times.

Sparks seems to have different ideas listening to his interview. If a player becomes available that improves the squad we will swoop...as all football clubs should.

To be fair, Barnsley and Wigan fans online said you wont get anything out of him if you play him as a striker, he is one of those left hand side attackers and that's about it. I hope as the season goes on, it's Humphrys on the left in his best spot cutting on on his right foot and Pointon on the right, cutting in on his left. It seems like a natural move if we are going with the pressing play and quicker wing backs.

Tough call but youd probably guess a CF. Maybe argue an AM....that could see Wright shown the door mind.

Depends on the player too. Looks like Swan and Kav are similar mould types, bit of a burst of pace on them and looking to be a pain to defend against, we all know what we'll get from Cook but he is a different type of forward to those two. Do we look for a unit? Someone to come off the bench and change the dynamic of attack and give the defenders something else to consider?

Sam Cosgrove is still with the PFA camp, another physical type striker who has always been around the L1 level. He was a bit part player for Barnsley and Stockport last season, but could be useful if that's the role we want to fill? Did well in L1 at Plymouth in 2023, 8 goals and 2 assists from 33 apps, with a goal every 164 mins. There aren't a lot of striker names in that squad to bother looking at other than him tbf.

Cosgrove would probably cost 3-4k a week. Thats a chunk of budget for a 5th choice striker. Plus he looks pretty useless nowadays.

Rather a cheap young loan or Ibbitson fill that void until Cook returns.

I think it will be a cheap loan, reckon it might be someone who's a bit different to Swan and Kav, or it should be. We saw last season when Mellon came on for Kav or other way round, the defenders pretty much knew what to expect because they were fairly similar stature strikers and needed the AMs more often that not to do something special rather than the strikers.

I cant see Ibbitson getting a sniff if I'm honest. He doesn't seem to get getting much of a look in pre-season so far.

Wonder if Devante Cole is still a possibility.
