Sutton is a tosser - he has always downplayed us because he knows he can farm engagement online from our irate fans.

Best ignored anyway, his yearly predictions are ludicrous with a very poor success rate. He tipped MK Dons to win L1 the other year when they got relegated.

 

No point playing any games then. May as well let him and one or two others get round a table and decie the final positions.

 

Yep, solid rather than spectacular. I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit disappointed after Rupp hinting at the start of the summer that we'd be recruiting for a possible top 6 push because I think we currently fall well short of being capable of that. Two or three players of real quality coming in might just change my mind, but I'm not banking on that happening now.

 

We need Rupert and Dianne.

 

Sutton does have a downer on City for all the reasons stated and he leans into it on Twitter now.

That being said this year I think he has a point. I'm not especially excited or wowed by our transfer activity and I think we lack going forwards. Sarce and Patto will miss time injured. Kav and Pointon very much unproven at this level. Cook recovering from injury and 34/35. I fear for our goals scored column.

And it's an almost entirely new defence.

I think we've a hard season ahead if I'm honest. I don't, however, think we will finish 5th bottom. Think we'll be a few places ahead of that.

 

I think the signings haven't been poor but decent enough signings to keep us clear of the trap door. Providing the experience players come to the fore I think out the 4 teams promoted we will finish the best. If we get that DM position sorted then I believe we could surprise a few and hit the top 10 however I want us to concentrate on getting 50pts plus and build from there. The main position that worries me is LCB I am not convinced with Tilt or Kelly to be good enough for that role.

 

Have you forgotten Humphrey and Swan although I would have liked at least one more out and out striker

 

Yeah thinking the same. I've not been overly impressed but by no means is it a 20th squad. Reckon we're staring a 10th/11th at best, 16th/17th at worst spot at the min but there's time for improvement.

 

With hindsight, I would suggest that recruiting for a top 6 push looks a bit fanciful now. Blackpool and Huddersfield are spending big by the looks of things, Luton are have got big money coming in and then with the likes of Bolton, Cardiff, Reading along with Stockport, Wycombe etc - that's quite a few teams to outperform.

It looks as though we've made some solid signings, but I would be happy if we had a season where we consolidate. Wycombe and Luton for our first two home games are tough.

Definitely need someone else for central midfield.

 

Our recruitment to date has been solid but a little uninspiring, im thinking it will be a tough season where the realistic aim is staying up and having some good cup runs.

I dont think you can underestimate how much better standard than league two it is going to be in L1, the money clubs are spending shows that. our forward line has been added to with free transfers and you wonder if we have enough there.

We will be battling it out with the likes of Burton/Rotherham/Wimbledon to stay up, buckle up its going to be a rocky ride

On paper difficult but if GA gets the benefit out of the Austria trip that he should then we'd hopefully perhaps start a bit stronger than some other teams and may catch them out cold early in the season.

Rather play them early than a few games in when they've likely found their groove!

 

Of course we are going to be in a relegation battle and people have been to busy patting themselves on the back after going up. Yes it was great but to put faith in a lot of those players especially in attack is utter madness. Top draw creativity and forward player was needed and probably the bank breaking for it. He ain’t prepared to do that and that’s why i get so angry when he talks about getting us to championship/ new trainning ground it’s pie in sky , he means by luck not design as without money and I mean proper money we are stuck. Between league 1 and league 2.

 

Stephen Humphries or just ignoring him?

 

Not enough, no where near enough. Sorry that leaves Kav and Bobby unproven. Sarcevic deemed not good enough when Stockport returned to this league, pato constantly injured. Swann id add to the Humphrey’s bucket ok but not enough. They’ve literally waited 6 years to get it and I think not brought enough attacking quality to be comfortable let alone be in the top 6.

 

No. Humphrys I see as our best signing (alongside Joe Wright) and actually pretty reasonable. He alone though isn't enough.

Swan, proven at L2 level and has had a single, mixed bag of a season with Crawley in L1 - not of his own making admittedly.

I'm not convinced that gives us enough though. I hope to be proven wrong of course.
