Summer 2025 transfer rumours

I'd be in favour of signing Pearson for the attributes he brings. That's more our style, we aren't going to be competing on every technical level, so have to make up the shortfall with aggression.

A clear upgrade on our most physical defenders at present, ie, Kelly.

Both of Donnys best CBs have rejected new deals and are leaving on a free. Tom Anderson has rejected them to join Shrewsbury and Olowu has turned down their offer with no news on his slot but seems like a fair few L1 clubs are linked.

 

Not a chance will that happen.

 

I didn’t rate Anderson the times I’ve seen him , swapping to Shrews isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement either? That means there will be Donny competition for any available c/ backs ?

Looks that way, and as a team that's going to be chasing players living in similar regions who also need at least 2 starting calibre CBs, I reckon we'll probably be linked to similar names over the coming weeks.

 

He's nearly 32. He probably knows his level and would prefer being top half league 2, rather than bottom half league 1. Having just won the league, he's probably got a good deal at Shrewsbury too.

I think it's more that he would have been well down the pecking order had he stayed at Donny. This move will give him more chance of game time.

Can't see that? Hes still got a year left but there's a rumour going about that apparently he's planning on retiring because of his fitness. Not managed 90 mins yet for Chesterfield, this season he's played roughly the same amount of minutes as Jay Benn did for us.
