No one is paying £2 million quid for Pointon. At most he's a speculative few hundred thousand.

He is worth had much as we are prepared to sell but my point is Swindon want (not guaranteed to get) £1.5m for a player who hasn't played nowhere near enough first team football in comparison and as only just got into their first team yet we have a player who is more established scoring and creating chances so on that basis Pointing is worth more and that's my point.

 

Unsubstantiated rumours but basically that’s what this thread. I wonder what the success rate is for actual signings

 

If we are offered 1.5 million for Bobby I’ll drive him there myself . What one club wants for one of their players in no way can be transposed into a valuation of our players . That bonkers Ricky . They have put a daft valuation on him to fend off others or put him in the shop window by grabbing attention . Swindon are on their uppers financially and if someone came along and offered a decent amount they would sell .

I don't disagree I was merely pointing out that if Swindon rate him at that price Pointon is definitely worth more.

I agree not 2m but definitely not a few hundred grand either. Maybe it's because we don't ever have assets and aren't used to selling players but as a fan base we need to stop undervaluing our players. It's not 2010 anymore, we need to get with the times. Thankfully, I have trust in Sharpe to no longer let us get fleced.

 

A good season for Bobby in league one and we might be talking bigger money

Think we'd get more than that but maybe not into the 7 figures just yet. Peterborough just paid £500k for Bass who's never really played above L2. Wigan paid £500k for Costelloe. Reckon Bobby would be a touch higher with his age too, but a good L1 season under his belt and we are talking a very nice fee.

 

Lucky absolutely . He needs a great season agree but will he get one just being rotated behind Humphreys ?

Ameen has just gone 18 years old. You are paying for very raw potential that could get better and better.

Bobby was struggling at Liversedge and Brighouse at that age.

 

Just had a phone call saying Andy Rinomhota is doing a photo shoot and will be signing for Bradford City, this guys been good in the past so fingers crossed its true.

 

When he came on against us he looked at a much higher level than Pointon will have at 17 years old

 

You've answered your own point he's worth what someone is willing to pay but but by that analogy it doesn't mean he's worth more than the Swindon player, that's pure conjecture.

 

Tbf mate we have had players in the past like Ameen young with raw potential Danny Forrest Kevin Sansay Luke medley spring to mind.

Some players thrive later in their careers. Ian Wright Jamie vardy were late developers.

I am just saying we have a player in Pointon who is by nowhere near his full potential but is now an established footballer and we know he has been on the radar of other clubs. Ameen on the other hand is yet to show his capabilities on a regular basis.
