I liked him but that doesn’t change my opinion. 170 mins in the whole of 24/25 season in 12 appearances ( According to a post yesterday )doesn’t give confidence . Remember he was fit enough for the last match of the previous season, so they don’t rate him either to play 90 mins at all last season?

 

Might be Internet nonsense, but the rumour on twitter is that West Ham are trying to get Kone from Wycombe in a £12m move. The lad is far too good for L1, but £12m?! Must be nonsense.

 

They turned down a £6mil bid from Luton in January for him. With prices as they are these days for strikers I don't think it is mad to think they can get £10mil+ for him or at least a deal which will rise to over £10mil with add ons. He's 21, scored plenty in non-league, had half a season to adapt to league 1 professional football then this season he's been amazing. Even if he doesn't make it as a Premier League striker then West Ham will still be able to get the money back and more to a top end Championship club. I'd imagine it is also a knock on from the Stansfield deal last summer, if he is worth £15mil+ then Wycombe will say a player who is younger and only scored 1 less goal is worth close to the same.

 

But you are comparing a team that finished 14th in the Bundesliga and a team in League One! Both clubs have very different standards.

We are levels apart from St Pauli.

 

Mental that a 20+ goal striker of a re-saleable age in this division is that valued now, but it is the modern game i suppose.

Just makes you realise how much money is swimming around this level. I looked at how many disclosed transfers above £500k were paid last season, something were going to have to get used to if we want to last in L1!

The club isn’t relevant . I’m talking about Scott Banks’s potential fitness. You don’t deem it a risk, I do . Who would be the first to call him a sick note if my caution is founded in reality ? 12 irrelevant sub cameo's in the entire 24/25 season isn’t exactly awe inspiring and confidence building.

 

He wasn't injured last season, he was given cameos because his ability isn't up to Bundesliga level. I mentioned this 2 messages ago!!! He has been training, he has made match day squads and he has had 'run outs'.

Again, not fitness or injury related, he simply is'nt good enough for a starting place at St Pauli.

 

Highly unlikely but Sam Morsy has been told he can leave Ipswich for free, would love him here and with our new Wigan connection im allowed to dream.

I think Kelly will stay. GA seems to really rate him. I think he’s a decent defender and well worth keeping.

My train of thought exactly Rod. It’s easy to say but if it was my money I wouldn’t risk it , as opposed to someone who would with someone else’s money. Two potential years is a long time , aka Johnson seemed an era on one year.
