Someone else said he's a winger, and that's true, he was, but he did seem to have the attributes to be able to play attacking midfield. Had skill and ability on the ball as well as a bit of pace.

But if the idea was to convert him to wing back like Ty, then honestly, no thanks.

 

What kind of midfielder is he?

I'd honestly lean towards 'no'.

I remember when we went on a bit of a spree of signing relegated players last time we were in League One and it didn't work out. The Hope Akpan/Sean Scannell era.

You have to be careful when signing players like that. Akpan seemed mentally broken by the time he arrived here, yet we made him captain...

 

I'm not suggesting any particular player Kev. Just the fact that we never really know and as previous history shows us ..... just maybe

 

Many people forget this BR. Most just suggest he took over a decent PP squad but for me he definitely had at least that successful season even if he wasn't particularly great in the others.

 

At the time when PP left I remember lots of discussion about the entire scouting information also going with him and us only having around 8 or 9 first team players, albeit some good ones for L1. He brought back Nicky Law who played in that freeish role on the left that teams really struggled to deal with initially. In my view SM did a brilliant job in that session.

But back on topic, I wonder if we might see a bit more transfer activity this week or is everyone still in Ibiza or Dubai?

 

I think the 28 days players have to inform the club if they're leaving or not is up today or tomorrow, so I assume we will find out by Wednesday the status on Richards Walker and Kelly. But the transfer window closes again then so I doubt we will see much in the way of movement before they go back for pre season

 

I reckon we'll see at least one announcement this week before the fans forum on Wednesday, but it will most likely be Walker and/or Richards /Kelly if things have been finalised regarding their futures.

 

Are you suggesting we are above signing Bundelisga cast offs? Not good enough for St Pauli so not good enough for Bradford City?

 

I think we’re getting bodies through the door that can keep us in L1, not challenge for it. Our new recruitment policy seems to look a few seasons in advance, so I think we’re building the foundations now with experienced players, with a view to signing some more progressive players once we’ve survived our first season. I’m not really expecting any dynamic, klaxon type signings. This is all well and good and sensible - just needs to be communicated to fans to avoid any unrest.

 

On this occasion only , well yes, due to the risk of another as some put it “ sick note”.

 

I think you are right , it will likely be Walker with Richards and Kelly maybe on their way? I’ll be shocked if Walker doesn’t sign, however it wouldn’t be the end of the world.

 

Dont think he is a sick note. He got a bad injury, it happens. He has struggled at Bundesliga level this season. More to do with ability and not injuries.

I really liked Banks, alot of potential there and resale value for whoever snaps him up. Im not against players coming back, some think its a curse like witchcraft or something.
