Joe Wright follows the club on twitter now, which basically means the 2 year deal is done and dusted of course.

 

It only matters if we sit with three defenders on the half way line and a ball over the top. It’s very rare we did that last season , maybe Salford away? Sitting less high means pace advantage is reduced or nullified imho.

 

That leaves 4 centre backs for 3 positions?
We want 5 so for me Kelly will stay as well.
As most coaches in the game point out, left footed Centre backs are in demand as they're rare.

I think we probably try get a youth loan to cover the 5th slot. If, a big IF obviously. But IF, we get Wright and Pearson. That's Tilt (33), Pearson (31) and Wright (30) who will likely be starters. Then you have Baldwin (28 next week) and at the minute Byrne (32). Kelly if he signs is 27 next month.

A lot of guys in their prime and only 3 can play, naturally some will leave to play. Likely Kelly wouldn't sign on again and Byrne would be very far down the pecking order.

 

Stand easy, just a bit of banter something in short supply on here at the moment.

 

Quite a few names been banded about today, the gossip is hot. I wonder if the club have let 1 or 2 slip to mask the Smallwood piece earlier.

 

It does Kev but it also makes it much more difficult for those in front to press due to the opposition having more room to pop it around.

 

That’s where Smallwoods nous came in at times. I’m pretty certain they have someone lined up? It’s a fine balance where they sit , between edge of box and 35 yards upfield may be the best? .

 

Bigger names. Probably not something to massively worry about if at all, but IF these other 2 CBs linked sign along with Kelly and Richards extending, that would take us up to 18 O21 players for the squad registration. Not a great amount of space to add the wing backs, midfielders and strikers we need if we want experience.

Might end up in the spot where the likes of Oduor, Smith etc need to get out the door to free up space (and cash) to have better experienced players.
