Agree but need to consider the Adams factor as well.....i dont think we have a bad crop by any stretch. Its Adams job to dig deep and make them click as a unit.

 

The perceived "best" players in poor teams are always the Keeper or defenders as these are the players that get noticed more because they are doing the majority of the work.

 

When you best players are your defenders or keeper then your backline is being over worked.

You also need to understand that when you play 2 DM then its because you don't think your defence is good enough and need to add more protection.

 

Are you referring to Lee Angol as the one who isn't better than what we have already? Apologies if not, but I'm really keen to see what he can do here. He was sharp as mustard when I saw him play, five years ago. He was undoubtedly FL quality. If he has fully recovered from his injury problems then I've no doubt he can score goals in L2. Adams must think so or he wouldn't have signed him. Fingers crossed.

Undoubtedly Adams will organise them better than previous years. He will build the team ethic and over time (not 5 or 10 games) will mould a winning formula. My worry is Angol better than Novak? Talent or injury wise. I don't expect signings like Wyke was back in the day but I think we need better up front than Angol.

 

That, or they get exposed - Richards-Everton, for example. It was also obvious we didn't have a competent right back until AOC moved there (Hossanah was overrated because he was fast and direct in attack), and Wood was very poor.

You're certainly right in that most seasons we've been poor, and our POTY is almost invariably a defender. I'm sure it's not a coincidence, but for me POC and Canavan are more than good enough.

 

@DariusSyrossian rumours about Mcaleny that we've offered him a contract but Tranmere in the front running, Salford also offered a deal too as per rumours. Have you seen him recently? Or are seeing him soon? To give him a nudge to come to us instead of Tranmere.

 

I'm massively unsure of POC. I thought he was terrible for the most part last year and got beaten aerially too many times in our own box.

He's young and no doubt can improve but he needs to start winning the important challenges and develop into the no nonsense centre half that some on here seem to be labeling him as.

This season is a big one for him and assuming we have an improved midfield that won't leave him exposed as often I'm wanting to see a dramatic improvement from last term.

 

Need to remember this is Adams way, not a man to sign 'names' but to get the best out of the players who perhaps haven't quite achieved their potential in the past - we really have to trust him on signings. I would love to see a 'marquee' signing as a sign of our intentions but then again our records with such players isnt great so totally behind whatever DA decides he wants

 

Maybe your wish will come true the window is still open, and we are still looking at targets.

 

Signing McAleny would be excellent business. I suspect he will go with the money at Salford and stay that side of the Pennines

 

Anyone any further news on Songo'o. A few on social media reported it was a done deal on Monday after completing his medical.

There is a lot of sense spoken there. It’s all about organisation, preparation and training. If all three aren’t in unison , good players are bad players in a poorly organised team. Let’s face it we have experienced enough. I’m as certain as I can be , Adams will turn it around.

Agree re POC. He was beaten far too often in aerial challenges especially in our penalty area. That is something that needs to be radically improved throughout, the opposition won far too many of these in our penalty area and that caused us to concede far too many goals.

 

I would agree with that sentiment but it was said we allegedly signed Reeves with a known injury.
