If we learnt anything last season it should be to not hold any budget back for January, have the best squad possible from the start. If you need players in January either go over budget or ship players out but we can’t be taking that sort of stupid risk again. The better your squad the better chance of a cup run as well which can be used in January, another reason holding budget back is detrimental.

 

This team won't finish mid table, our manager simply will not accept mediocrity. Any player who does not perform will be replaced. We don't have a stand out squad, no one does in this dire division, but we now have an air of professionalism about us that was badly lacking under Rahic and then Rhodes.

 

To give McCall his dues, Sutton was a great signing, think Sutton suffered the stigma in some quarters of being a freebie released by Scunthorpe (must be sh*t!) , but bit by bit he has won over the doubters, IMO he was one of the best signings last season, bang for buck he adds a lot to the squad/team.

Watt is clearly a talent he’s one of those neat and tidy players but for me doesn’t pull up any trees, not really his job however, mr consistent and compared to some cloggers at this level he is quality. Perhaps this season he will get forward a bit more.

 

Sutton and Cooke are both 24, and Watt is 21. They've all shown capability over the last 12 months, with Adams in charge I'm sure that they will all continue to develop. That's a good position for us to be in.

 

It's so refreshing and encouraging to think we actually have a proper recruitment plan in place now going forward. No reliance on agents getting in touch offering us the players nobody else wants, but a list of targets we have identified, with a couple of backups in every position in case our first choice doesn't come off.

 

I'd have sacked them the minute they threw Paudie upfront when we had Rowe sat on the bench.

 

I mean I'm not fussed on Stockton, personally I'd prefer better. But why would that rule us out? If we want good players, we've got to be prepared to fight with other clubs for them. If we're the only club in for a player it probably tells you something.

 

Yes Idle, scout I know has told me he is hearing some good things coming out of the club at long last - lets hope we start hearing some of it next week and I am certain the vast majority will be right behind what is happening

 

As said last week 2 deals tied up and another 2 close to being finalised - should be some announcements this week, only consideration might be they want PR for them when DA is back from his short break in Scotland

 

Off topic but prayers for Christian Eriksen. Horrific scenes.

 

Way I see it the club promoted a busy week. 3 new deals for our out of contract players and 2 new deals for youth so far. I can only assume they are also talking/negotiating with potential new signings.

The club made zero promises on new players this week. Fans have read between the lines and assumed that.

Rest assured, there will be incomings whether its this week, next week or the week after. I dont understand the impatience? We are in mid June.

Maybe the fans need to wind their neck in?

 

Some people love to put our players down, often before they have even kicked a ball.
Paudie is not the best defender in the league or the worse, by a long way. He is still relatively young and inexperienced and i think will improve with better coaching and playing in a more successfull team.
I think most were happy we managed to sign him from Leeds, unfortunately the lad has played in poor City teams ever since,
Which i think has held him back and that is down to the club and its poor recruitment. Hopefully that has now come to an end.

 

I think you will see Sutton blossom even more with established “proper” enforcer midfielders round him. He was trying to do everything in the middle last year because of weaknesses of those around him?
