Clubs further up the hierarchy sometimes turn to young players that get released further down the football pyramid.

Their U23/Reserve squads don't always fill themselves.

DMH to Barnsley is the best example. We then fell for the idea that he must have improved.

 

Hudders have released a couple of young full backs with first team experience that are worth looking at. One hails from London but the other is a Mancunian

 

We are looking at a pacy striker in the NL, and also scout I know has said best form is currently Dagenham and R who have come from nowhere - dont want to have to play them again so hoping one of the northern teams can clinch play off alongside likely promo teams Torquay and Sutton

 

I know there has been a link with him before and he has had another decent season, think this might be another player - will try and find out a bit more next week

 

Johnny maxted released by Exeter, maybe worth a punt decent keeper if we choose to let Richard O’Donnell move on be good competition for hornby

He's been a number 2 all his career, even at Guiseley. Clearly I can only look at appearances made but statistically you'd be mad to let a keeper with the experience of ROD go and replace him with a 27 year old who's only got a modest amount of FL appearances and has never spent a full season as a first choice keeper.

 

I'd prefer to go down the route of veteran keeper like Bolton did with Gilks. Scott Brown (36) released by Port Vale, played with Hornby before, a good reliable back up and can add experience to Hornby's game. I also like the look of Crawley's veteran goalkeeper, not sure if he's available though.

 

Completely agree. Unless it is to bring back Wells or Wyke of course.

 

Would be nice but as we know wouldnt happen. It always seems to be players who are past their best that are mentioned, don't mind at all if we bring the likes of Wells or Lee Evans back.

 

Well if we're going down that route, can we have Cullen and Burke as well please?

Dont worry. In two years we will be in the championship with Wells and Wyke up top supported by Cullen and Evans in midfield. Who knows, Burke could come back too.
