No we're pointing out that, in two spells as City manager, under different chairmen McCall's teams have lacked a spine and he's been unable to do anything to turn round bad runs of form.

It also happened at Motherwell, and looks like it's happening at Scunthorpe.

 

oh and I suppose both of you have watched a lot of Motherwell and Scunthorpe under McCall to be qualified to say they 'lack a spine' ???

 

What about the first time he was here as manager. In his second season he had a massive budget for that league and was going well until the slump which he couldn’t turn round.
You should try and understand people can have high regard for a person without rating them as a manager.
Nothing would give me greater pleasure than seeing Stuart go and save Scunthorpe as long as it is not at our expense and further I hope he progresses in his career.

 

He did a terrific job, to an extent.

If he had developed the ability to turn around slumps, and move his team's forward from such positions, he'd likely be managing at a higher level than he's got to so far.

 

He's never left a club in a better league position than when he took over them.

That says it all doesn't it?

I thought Scunthorpe was nailed on to change that given they were aiming for the play offs and he was starting at such a low position. It's not looking automatic any more though incredibly.

 

Parkinson left us in 5th.

McCall left us in 6th

The teams behind us had up to three games in hand as well when he left so that might actually have been a false position. That's speculation though. The actual position is factual.

 

I give him a lot of credit for his first season of his latest spell. He does create a good team spirit because I believe he gets to close to the players so when things go wrong he doesn’t seem to have the authority to change things

 

It's a fact that in two different spells, with us, he simply could not turn us around when a bad spell occurred.

Parky had at least four poor periods and sorted it every time. And the reason he'll have been given the chance as he always looks like he has a robust plan. Stuart didn't.

 

Maybe all fair but you seem to be discussing a different topic to what I am.

My simple factual point is that McCall has never left a club in a better league position than when he took over.

You seem to want to talk about the effect Edin has had.

Yes there are only 92 (more of you want to consider Scorland) but at the end of the day sticking with the wrong one can have a bigger detrimental effect than being out of work. Grayson, Parkinson and the manager who apparently interviewed before Collins was appointed saw that, McCall doesn't get a free pass on his last job because he didn't.

 

And what was the factor that caused the collapse last time he was here
Parky got promoted and kept Bolton in the Championship despite the players regularly not getting paid.

 

Personally, always thought Stuart would be a far better assistant or a coach, out on the training field with the lads, rather than the other managerial stuff.

 

well would you look at that...Stuart McCall doesn't know how to turn around a slump. that's his short coming as a manager. thats why his Scunthorpe team have just won their last three games, and have jumped upto 17th in the table.


it's not like Park Bantam and banbrotam to back the wrong horse thoug......oh wait..

 

It looks like given time he's found out how to get a team low on confidence and lacking several of Scunthorpe's better players performing as he wants them to, marvelous what a little patience and new faces can do for a manager .

 

If Scunthorpe get to Wembley I might go... cmon Stuart lad!

 

Rocking a bit is Stu at the moment. He's certainly let us down lately with defeats to Gillingham, Oxford, and now Bristol rovers. From everyone saying he's got Scunthorpe safe they are now back right in it just 2 points clear. Going to be a tense finish for the bottom 10 teams.

 

Every team from about Wycombe in 12th are now involved. We could do with a couple of teams who probably thought they were well clear a couple of weeks ago, go on and have a long losing run, teams such as Southend and Accrington have well and truly been sucked in, due to teams who were in the bottom 4 picking up some decent results recently. Of course, we still have to help ourselves with a few more performances and results like yesterday.


Its going to be an interesting last few weeks of the season, that's for sure

 

We will be down long before that

 

I'd be delighted if we needed 4 points from Scunthorpe away and Wimledon at home.

 

Yes it's looking like that since I posted that... just us with nothing to play for on the last day then!

 

I'd think at 4:50 Bradford City is the first result Stuart looks for, he's one of us mate.
