@Wolfysmith
Just got this photo from my 37 year old nephew who I told you about when I took him to his first meeting 30 odd years ago and he burst in to tears the first time the cars set off. He’s now taking his kids.
I couldn’t go but weirdly on my way home tonight I saw number 37 stock car on a trailer down by the Wyke lion pub.

Nightmare start to the day. Hub went on back axle when loading the car on the truck. We fixed it when we got to the track. Only for the brake cable to go when he went out for heat1. Fixed in time for heat 3. No brakes but that didn't seem to matter! And then he bagged the final. I always knew Mal Brown 34 was a lap down.
Sheffield today. Hoping for the same again.
As for the cheque. No chance. How do make a small fortune in stock car racing? Start with a bigger one!Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...bailiff bridge bantam and Interested Bystander like this. -
@bailiff bridge bantam another final bagged today at Sheffield!
Chris will get moved up to blue top now. The gradings of drivers is done during the season so if you do a few more meetings you'll see a few drivers roof colours change.
The car Chris was driving is owned by my mate 502 Ricky Wilson. Rick's a big City fan too so another reason to cheer him on as well as 'Forty'. Also the lad who had the spectacular rollover in the F2s is also a mate who I went to school with.
@Dratsab taf - yes it was a longer meeting than last time. Simple reason; more cars and more big crashes, which take time to sort out. Make sure to come along to the next meeting. Attendances at Odaal are currently capped at 4000 with zonal areas. It'll be much better when the restrictions are lifted and people don't have to pre-book tickets. I thought the crowd was a little down but the hot weather may have had something to do with that.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Great stuff, Like the way the novices start at the front and then gradually line up to the top guys at the back

After a few meetings where I haven’t been able to go tonight’s tickets are all booked for me and my 9 year old for his first ever meeting.
Really looking forward to it.
Going with my 37 year old nephew as well who I took all those years ago so will be a bit strange with my 9 year old hopefully starting his enjoyment of the sport.
Hot weather all day which definitely makes Odsal a more enjoyable place to watch the racingWolfysmith likes this. -
It's a shame you can't come into the pits. Otherwise your young un could sit in the car.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...bailiff bridge bantam likes this. -

It was nice to have a bit more of a reason to follow a car.Normally just look out for the big names.
Was definitely a bit more interest knowing that a fellow city fan was helping with the car.
Actually made me a bit more nervous when the car was leading in his heat and the final knowing that someone I “ knew” was involved in the car.
Really enjoyed it last night and almost feel part of the final winning team.
A bit tenuous maybe but me and my lad have now got a new car to follow.
Might be blue top by the next time we see him?
Do the colours change mid season or is it a yearly thing.
Really impressed with the white 87 car as well.
His speed and lines were very impressive all night.Wolfysmith likes this. -
Certainly seemed a longer one last night. I set off to city at 2pm and people were queuing at the gates or car park then sat in the garden at around 10pm and cars still thundering round.
What sort of numbers are they getting attendance wise, seemed to be a fair few last night when I had a peak at the terracing.
Not really my bag, I'd love for the speedway to be back personally, but I can't see a hope in hell of that happening, will give the SCs a look at some point given its on the doorstepWolfysmith likes this. -

@bailiff bridge bantam last nights meeting was a lot slicker. Started at 6pm and was wrapped up for 8.45pm. So I'm guessing the 37 team had chance to have a cheeky pint o wrap the evening up
Not as much damage as last time out but the track was much better and the organisation better. The promotion team put on a great show for the fans. I hope your nephew and his kids enjoyed it?Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
Tonight's meeting up at Odsal features 60 F1 stock cars for a World Championship qualifier.
There's a similar number of F2s also booked in. They're racing for the English Open Championship.
