This article is nearly 12 months old, but does give you some perspective

Last set of accounts attached. Looks to me like the director's plowed another £2.5m in that year

Wow, its been debated many times what the owners are trying to achieve at Salford but how can they make any sort of profit with the gates they attract even if they did make it to the Championship.

Thanks Lard Arse (feels wrong typing that...), crazy stuff.

They charge less per season ticket than we do, too!

I wonder if somewhere, there's a Salford City fan saying "but if we don't increase ST prices, we won't be able to afford a competitive budget"....

No worries, amended my original post due to my typo. The directors stuck in £2.5M not £.25m in the last set of accounts

Just suppose Rupp's 'sustainability' (aka I have zero interest in neither football or Bradford City. I'd much rather spend money on motorsports) approach continues. And by some miracle, the club reaches the same level (or slightly better) as when he bought the club. Should he then make a profit on his investment if/when the club is sold, haven't Bradford City supporters generated practically all of whatever that profit (minus sponsorship and money outside of supporters buying tickets) is for him?

I can't think of any other type of business where there's no investment and it's solely the customers money that makes the business a saleable asset. (My business acumen is probably sub GCSE and I'd be happy to be told just why what I believe is incorrect, though.)

I don't expect him to make the club unsustainable in the medium to long term. But the way things are currently working, should it come good, Bradford City supporters will have made an incredibly rich man even wealthier.

Salford can afford to fund its losses, it is owned by a Billionaire who wants it to progress as he mingles with his Man Utd stars of old so no real comparison

Wrexham just posted that they lost over £1.1m in 2020/2021, where Shaun Harvey :cold_sweat: is now CEO

Every club will be posting big losses for that season due to covid, including ourselves who have posted a loss of over £800k.

Some clubs will ride out those losses better than others. I'm sure Wrexham's Hollywood owners will be fine covering that

Wrexham lost just short of £1.2m on a turnover of 1.5m. That is a shocking loss, but yep just a drop in the ocean for the owners

    Wow.

I mean the operating loss will be inflated by the circumstances just like ours was, but that is some hefty outgoings!

    Indeed. Some costs....

But with no defeat in 11 and 7 wins, a win tonight and a play off position is theirs, as it stands.

Imagine, think outside the box here @JonButterfield@JonButterfield, challenging for promotion at the business end of the season.... With Gary Bowyer as your boss....

Ah, for the joys of another bottom half finish in the basement league with our 'custodian' Rupp

I don't think Gary Bowyer's a bad gaffer, to be honest, but our fans turned on him on a cold, crappy day in Carlisle and his position was untenable.

I think Bowyer is the one, fairly clear example of the fan base being too impatient to help the club. Probably a controversial opinion, that one, but unless I'm mistaken, we were fifth in the league, five games unbeaten, when the fans turned on Bowyer.

    That's pretty bloody stupid.

So I honestly can't say he's a terrible manager or that he's overachieving at Salford.

As with many things Jon Valley Parade seems to be the graveyard for proven strikers/ proven managers etc, having said that looking at Salford outgoings they have backed him with players.
Usually Salford don't hang around with regards sacking managers in the past and at times Salford looked to be struggling as ourselves but stuck with Bowyer, not saying we should have kept Adams but as you comment once fans start hounding the manager its time to part company.

We needed Bowyer in charge during the 'beyond closed doors' season

The Vaughan/Doyle situation had a lot to do with the negativity directed towards Bowyer

And the unremitting negativity of his tactics - playing for draws with ten men behind the ball at Orient and Carlisle - both on terrible runs of form at the time and ripe for the taking with a bit of positivity.

tactics and how he wasted the best forwards we'd had in a long time at the club. definitely a good bloke though and one who genuinely seemed to understand the club and take pride in representing us, so I always wish him well elsewhere.

If we lose today which looks erm very likely then we officially can’t match last years point total, another season of regression how many is that on the trot?

    Rupp out.
