Looking at Thorne’s record at Norwich before joining us he was awful but had been good prior to that.
I think that’s a fair judgement of a player-they could be poor at the most recent club but if good prior to that there’s likely something about them.

Ward was a waste of space and money and he had a fortune out of city like carbone why only signed for city for the 40k a week wage and 2 million signing on fee , they would never have got the remaining wages if city went bust , so waving that fee means nothing .

Stead v Chelsea was the most complete performance from a striker, in any one game, that I have ever seen. Ever ever ever.

Rory had Drogba in his pocket.
Fabregas and Hazard were marked out of it by our midfield. -
Was Wyke? Yes. There is your answer fella. -

By your smarmy, ridicilous logic I suppose they werent. -

Claus Jorgenson on that run of goals, shame he wasn’t a striker!
Can’t believe only one person mentioned Nahki Wells. Him and Hanson were a great partnership.
Robbie Blake for me is the standout, I loved watching him play, twisting and turning. Honorable mentions for Neil Tolson and Andy Tod the former scored possibly the best every city goal i’ve seen, a screamer at ninian park on a tues night we won 4-2. Volley from nigh on 30 plus yards.
good thread, brings back lots of good memories. When i started going it was Sean McCarthy and Paul Jewell era, Jagger often started the season flying then tailed off a bit, sad when Sean went to Oldham. Found out that he’d been sold at a midweek FA cup game at Chester City away, who were a league lower, and we went and lost that night 1-0 at the Deva Stadium. We always used to hammer them other times! Not happy -

It’s about weighing up their performance versus expectation, in the league they signed in and at that moment in time and what they did for us, not a measure of their total level of ability or what they did elsewhere.
if it’s just a measure of pure ability then Carbone is the greatest striker ever to have worn the claret and amber and Ward would be in our top five.
Waddle and Saunders were top class players before they arrived here, but that’s irrelevant. Both did well for us too though.
Windass for, me, was probably the best when you measure performance vs expectation. He did well for us in the Prem and he smashed it under Todd when we were subsequently relegated and when he returned. A character (sometimes to his detriment) but such a gifted player who read the game superbly. Blake/Mills and Wells/Hanson partnerships were also class, while Wyke was superb too.
McCarthy was sold not long after I started going but remember the kop chanting super sean mccarthy! -

Wells is a different type of player altogether.
Put Ward at age 30, in a league one team that produced the chances, with the wingers we had, and he would have ripped up the league.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand... -
