I know things have been slow over summer, but I thought I'd make a thread as now cards for the new season are heading onto the market. Any tips, tricks, strategies or under the radar players, please post away. I'll be active in this thread to give my opinion on anything!

I think in general I probably will dive into buying inseason cards, but this probably won't be until at least September time as the prices on some of the cards so far is mental. We get our loyalty boxes in 8 days, I believe on the day of the Premier League release. We'll probably all get market credits, but at least that will help if I do decide to buy cards then.

I'll be using my essence once all leagues are in the factory. I'm currently on 5070 hoping to get to 5500, which will be 5 cards and also 5 leagues reveals when choosing the cards (believe it
s 100 essence to reveal the league).

 

Given the arenas are open after the deadlines, I think late entries once you know the XIs of teams is probably the play putting them into the arenas, especially once European leagues kick off properly on Saturdays. It will essentially be like a paid version of the old Rivals game.

The SO7 gamemode for classic cards is open for the first time this coming weekend. I was a bit indifferent when first announced but now I feel like playing in the arenas might be a better play, with a better chance of essence rewards.

Also the gameweek streaks are open this weekend, with all streaks I believe you can use 4 in season and 1 classic (including MLS) - if anyone has contender cards that still have inseason utility now is the time to start getting some money back from them.



I think I should be able to put out 4 in season lineups this coming weekend.

 

First plan/strategy is to try and take advantage of the hot streak boosts for the first month. I've found some of the Austrian League cards to be good value when on auction (obviously would be even better with market credits) - I've set myself a £20 budget and will attempt to get my money back from streaks.

That will allow me to play 2 in season lineups with a classic GK and I think I'll be able to hit the 2nd streak on both lineups -

 

I agree about the crafting, it's just pure luck to get into one of the better draws, otherwise it's basically just a T5 pick. I do feel you probably should have waited until at least 3pm today though, as the new cards come into the factory then. I'll still be waiting until at least Premier League I think, although my percentages are heavily weighted towards MLS.

Regarding arenas - maybe a play is on a normal weekend for example, if you have a full stack that is playing on a Monday night, wait until the lineups are released and then play it into the arena. You might get lucky and get put into an arena that isn't full which I've seen quite a lot.

This year I'm going to make a conscious effort to track how much I spend on cards and the returns I (hopefully) get from them. I can't believe with the streak offers how cheap some of the cards are, even I feel like I've overpaid on some of them.

 

Decided to do 2 crafts to try and get an MLS card to get my MLS percentages down, didn't get one so now it's even worse!

The worst thing about the new system is it showing you what you could have won after you've picked.

 

Given my weighted essence towards MLS, it would mean me crafted a new card from one of the new leagues almost impossible so I have used my essence for crafts. I did manage to get put in a T2 one and got Caio Marcelo, who is ok but out suspended at the moment.



I've got 570 left now to use next week possibly in some arenas.

 

Do you have any Premier League in your split at all? I only had MLS, Contender and a small about of neutral which is why I crafted now. I think if you have any of the singular playable leagues in your split I would wait (I’d also not take any of my advice!)

 

I suppose you might get lucky to get a new card through the neutral and champion essence. My essence was similar to yours and I got maybe 5 MLS cards from the 40 to choose from, so who knows?!

 

First go for SO7, and to be honest I don't mind it. This team currently is only 27 points off a card with Yazbek scoring terribly.



Feel U23 limited is something I've got the players for so I'm going to give that a good go this season and use players in there as priority over All Star and arena.

@SimonW - I know you said you were quite busy in the coming weeks, but is the API working again for your data extract?

Eredivisie looks like an interesting league to get involved in this season which I think I might. PSV and Feyenoord have both lost their Sorare smasher players (Boscagli, Lang, Hankco, Paixco etc) and who knows how Ajax will get on, so there might be an opportunity for a mid team to do quite well on Sorare. I think I might get involved, probably with either Utretcht or Go Ahead Eagles as both teams will also have Europe midweek utility.
