You mean like when we loaned out Doyle and Vaughan to Swindon and Tranmere?
Both did fantastic and fired their respective teams to promotion.

We enjoyed some championship-winning form in the earlier part of the season, when our points-per-match pace ranged from 1.9 to 2.1 over a running 10-match sequence, for some 10 matches in a row. But our most-recent running 10-match pace has been 1.4, which works out to a solidly mid-table, out-of-playoffs, 64 points. Overall it's still at 1.58, or 73 points total.

In the 41 seasons of 3 points for a win, 73 points has gotten a side into the top-3 once. But there's a catch -- that was in a 42-match season. Pro-rated to 46 matches, that's 80 points. The lowest total for 3rd in the 46-match seasons has been 75, twice. 73 points does, more often than not (33/41) lead to a top-7 finish.

We are trending in the wrong direction. I agree that our top-3 chances range from slim to none, and slim is just about out of the building. Playoffs remain a reasonable possibility though, always provided we stop the current slide. I can't say that our transfer business so far inclines me to hope...though it is too early to tell with the new players.

Although it wasn't stated it may be a loan with a view to it being made permanent. We don't know what's gone on, his agent may have asked if Yann is going to be offered another contract.

You'd think we'd lost Ngolo Kante from some of the comments.

Instead we've given a defensive player to Walsall who operates in positions we have plenty of cover for, and who barely factored this season.

that’s a league Kante we’ve lost - Songo’o
A league 2 Riyad Mahrez we’ve lost- Young
And a league 2 Andy Robertson as well - Foulds.

No wonder we struggle.

 

Tranmere were last promoted in the 18/19 season and we loaned Vaughan to them on 29th Jan 2020, so his loan didn't result in them going up.

 

Bring back the League Two Messi, Will Atkinson, and all will be well.

 

We laugh, he always scored against us after he left . I went to a Southend away game, I’m sure he scored on that day too?

 

Happy to stand and be corrected, but apart from Doyle I cannot remember any player loaned out in recent seasons that has significantly improved the loaned to club/back-fired on us - please correct me if I am wrong?

With this in mind I understand recent transfers for both club and player. Specifically on Songo’o, I really like him however don’t see where hes getting games at the moment so only fair to him he is given this move.

Hughes will ultimately be judged at the end of the season whether this recent transfer activity was successful or not. Right now he doesn’t stand a chance as some will say he’s wrong and some will say he’s right. For me, I’ll reserve judgment till May.
