Wow! That's certainly a surprise and not one I agree with.

    Good luck Yann

Not getting a regular start, but a good squad player who can play defence and midfield.
Not sure why would let him go out on loan, unless he has been demanding a starting place

My overall worry with this is we are now letting popular lads in the changing room leave. I get Clayton is a leader we’ve bought in but I know for a fact that Foulds, Young and Songo’o were all highly thought of by the other lads and I just think we may be disjointing the squad at the wrong time.
We appear to be playing one in one out but the replacements are much of the same apart from being upgrades. I’m not sure what approach we are taking in this window but I don’t particularly like it.

We have a bloated squad, someone had to move on and you can only move players, if someone else actually wants them.
Odisina is still hear as centre half cover.
Personally i liked Songo, maybe he wanted to play week in week out, but i would not drop any of the current centre halves to accommodate him and he is well down the order for midfield defensive player.

If we flop in the second half then this is 100% down to the transfer policy of Hughes & Gent. Anything short of at least a very good push to stay in the playoffs, ie we end up with a fade out to 10th or below, and i'll seriously consider having a year off next season. I'll still buy a season ticket to keep the same seat I have occupied since the Kop went all seater, but might just do the odd game.

Some will call this out as fickle, but if the product is shite, you don't partake.

Problem is, every pre-season we always think "this has GOT to be our season!" and we are sucked back in :joy:

I wrote elsewhere that this is not a good move.

We've just given Walsall, the best team I've seen and who will go above us if they win their games in hand, an experienced team oriented midfielder - who's won promotion not so long ago!!

Madness!!!! But, once Clayton came, there was no way Hughes could make Yann stay.

Always a steady 7/10 player for us. Can't recall many bad games, especially when he was moved to centre half

Sad to see him move on, but out of contract in June so it was always on the cards I guess. The only surprise for me, is that he hasn't gone back to Morecambe to link up with Dull Derek for a 5th time in his career!!

    Balancing the books.

    Cut our cloth accordingly.

    Add your own.

Unfortunately, loaning half decent players to potential promotion rivals (not for the first time this transfer window) is certainly not "cutting your cloth" is it! Could be shooting ourselves in the foot big time

He's a perfect bench warmer because his versatility covered two distinct positions allowing room for extra attacking options and hasn't let us down when called upon this season either in midfield or defence. However, he was highly unlikely to start because we've got multiple players ahead of him in the pecking order in both areas.

Not too surprised that he's gone but I am a little surprised it's a loan and not a permanent exit given that he's out of contract in the summer.

Players want to play and they are (rightly) always thinking about their next contract and their future.

Hughes wasn't playing him but keeping him as some kind of security blanket, 'just in case'.

Fair enough if he wants to leave. No hard feelings. Good luck to him.

Reading between the lines he may think he's still a league one level player as he says he wanted to join them as they could get promoted. He probably didn't want to commit to a longer contract but wait and see where they end up at the end of the season and if he performs well then he'll be in a strong position. It's a risk but good luck to him.

I'm sure every football fan thinks the same at the start of the coming season Steve, then when they realise it's not going to happen the debate becomes "next season" I can't ever see a situation where I could give up on my team but respect those who feel differently.

Also reading between the lines, could he be saying that we won't get promoted !

I'm not talking about giving up, that would be not buying a season ticket, just giving it a rest. I think after 50+ season, and 35 as a season ticket holder, we all deserve a break from purgatory. If it happens, I'll call it a 60th Birthday present to myself !

Can only assume this is a book-balancing exercise with the likes of Angol, Songo'o et al taking up a considerable wage budget when they're not in the first 11 picture.

Time will tell if this gamble pays off, but as long as it means we manage to bring in better quality then let's trust the process and get behind it.

It wasn't aimed at you mate, as I posted I respect every individuals choice with regards what they do regarding Bradford City and agree if you have a seat you enjoy sitting in then at our season ticket prices it makes sense to "reserve it" for the future.
