Morecambe away and then Smallwood was dropped.
Don’t think they agreed on the switch from 4231 to 3421.

Interesting considering GA plays the 3421.

    Scrap Carlisle then.

Yep, this and his comments about how he felt he learnt nothing from him as a manager.

There was an interview in one of the National papers last year where Smallwood was quite scathing of Hughes.

Obviously we don’t know what goes on behind dressing room doors but I kept a close eye on Hughes and Carlisle last year and I have to say he does come across as very one dimensional, and dare I say uninspiring.

No they don’t in the days of social media . What added value does the T&A bring to BCAFC?

Who buys the T&A these days , let alone subscribe to paywalls?

Sales of the printed news sheet have fallen off a cliff over 20 years.

The club does NOT need the T&A .

The story of his leaving the club from the players “ angle” has been regurgitated a week later ….why?.

The club say nothing, they have no need to .

Only Bradford City fans follow Bradford City on social media. If you want new generations of fans, or folk that have moved to the City then the local paper/website is a way to reach new eyes and intrigue the natives.....Season ticket campaigns, £5 tickets, other club iniatives etc.

So yes, they still have a need for the T&A.

How will these new fans see the paper when nobody buys it ? A young kid say 9 upwards who hasn’t got access to social media …….really?

People still like to read the daily news about City Kevin though most apparently do it illegally through some anti encryption device. Maybe they could go to the local supermarket and have a sneaky read of a paper copy and then put it back. I don’t buy the T&A anymore though I used to have it delivered but I do subscribe to the digital edition. I like to read up about City each day, something the T&A didn’t used to do in the summer in the days of Markham and Aldred. If the T&A goes under it’s the last media that has any interest in City. The national newspapers used to have match reports on Sunday on City matches in the 60s to the 70s but now it’s all Premier league.

You don't have to buy the paper, just follow their social channels and pop onto their website? Surely you read/follow the local rags in Peterborough or wherever it is you are living.

TBH I actually prefer the T&A for Bradford City news than our official channels, you get a more balanced view with extra detail/opinion/speculation. I wouldn't have had a clue about Smallwoods departure and the reasoning's etc if it wasn't for the T&A. Club silent.

What about parents of 9 year olds? They hold the purse stings and the influence.

When it is all said and done the T&A have sold advertising space and helped push campaigns to increase ticket sales. And there is a reason the club use them...

I’m not one of these young fans you cite who rely on buying a newspaper , I go online for news local, football or otherwise . I don’t live in Peterborough, I could live in Poland and still read the towns news.
If there’s any one who would buy a newspaper it would be a traditional old fart like me, but I haven’t bought one in probably 5 years . Grandsons are 11 and get all their Arsenal/ Ipswich/ Colchester FC news online even though their phones are utterly under parental control. It a fallacy that clubs need print material to “ spread the word” these days. I won’t change my opinion.
In closing I’ll leave it to the experts ..

Newspaper sales in the UK have seen a significant decline, with print circulations of regional daily newspapers falling by 16% between 2023 and 2024. This trend is also evident in national newspaper sales, which have fallen by nearly two-thirds in the last two decades. The shift to digital news consumption is a major factor, with many people preferring online platforms for news and information.
Key Factors Contributing to the Decline:
    • Shift to Digital:
The rise of the internet and online news platforms has significantly impacted newspaper sales, as people increasingly access news through mobile phones, computers, and other devices.
    • Declining Advertising Revenue:
Newspapers are struggling to maintain advertising revenue, with the internet offering more targeted and cost-effective advertising opportunities.
    • Changing News Consumption Habits:
Younger generations, in particular, are more likely to rely on social media and other online sources for news and entertainment.
    • Increased Competition:
The proliferation of online news sources and 24-hour news channels has increased competition for readers' attention.
    • Cost and Convenience:
Print newspapers are often perceived as being more expensive and less convenient than online news sources.

I dont need educating on paper vs digital, I know how the world has transitioned. But the T&A has an online edition, which you don't mention.....but openly admitted you read the local rags online.

Eh? You were talking about fans , young fans buying needing/ reading newspapers / media. The vast majority get news and info from social media , if the declining T&A feeds into that all well and good , but it’s not remotely critical as a source info from the club. In fact the club could totally do without it in the very near future . They just use Facebook, Twitter and the clubs official webpages to get news online to the supporter. I thought I was living in the dark ages but news print or news print as an “ source” isn’t the conduit it used to be and organisations don’t actually need it any longer . The facts speak for themselves by declining sales , declining advertising , and declining consumer relevance. I won’t change my stance, so I’ll end it there.
