Smallwood Has Left The Building

I read it on the blog that Power can replace Smallwood rather than he has been brought in to replace Smallwood. If it was as straight forward as Power has been brought in which has made Smallwood not needed then there wouldn't be nearly 2 weeks between the announcement of Power and this meeting in Redcar

 

It comes from the players themselves. I'm not saying I believe them as I've no idea but 4 different players, all telling or agreeing with a story about his "magic trap door" doesn't suggest that he handled conflict too well.

 

Yes, I've seen quite a few podcasts with players saying 'Parky shit on me at the end'.

Interesting that GA drove up to Redcar and gave his reasonings. Smallwood didnt mention that, he said he didnt really know the reason. Possibly meant he didnt understand the reason....?

 

Or as I alluded to yesterday, didn't agree with the reason.

Well done to GA for doing this the right way - he’s driven up to the north east to speak to him in person. So many times these days you hear of these things taking place via text, or the first the player hears about it is social media.

 

He's an excellent person isn't he. Not a bad football manager either.

 

Only time will tell if it was the right decision

 

it was the right decision because GA decided it to be thus so. Simple. The club is not about one player and it is a team game, we move on and look forward.

 

The king is dead, long live the king. We move on……

 

It will still be interesting to know why GA changed his mind after initially telling Smallwood he would be getting a new 1 year contract before he went on holiday.

Have we managed to get a better player lined up perhaps?

Although we had already signed Power, I don't see him as Smallwood's direct replacement.

 

Sounds from the T&A this morning that GA let his heart rule his head a bit in the week after promotion and told Richie he wanted him to stay but then after the dust had settled a bit, he had a change of heart. I believe Raynor has also done a sit down interview with GA like he did with Rupp so maybe we'll get a bit more meat on the bone from that but then again, maybe not.

 

Let’s not forget Smallwood and his agent had already told the club he wanted a 2 year deal, problem was he forgot to later tell them one year would be acceptable . He admitted it himself. I know who I believe in this silly saga . This brinkmanship by player/ agent allowed sufficient time for GA to change his mind .These players should learn to think for themselves instead of relying on third parties ie their agents. Frankly it bit him on the rear? We move on.

 

Yes, read that. It must have been difficult for GA to drive up to tell Smallwood of his u-turn decision.

 

Nonsense loads of players including two of our own haven’t made their minds up yet

 

So Smallwood isn’t telling the truth, is that what you are saying? Read BOTH his T&A stories then tell me what I have got factually wrong?

 

I am more interested were he is going???? I think he played 2 year deal card early and would have accepted the 1 year deal but maybe wanted more in 12 months......who knows. ....who cares..... now we need to start the rebuild

 

It’s solely down to GA changing his mind for whatever reason not Smallwoods procrastination. It’s happened so let’s move on.
