That PMQs was one of the worst performances from Starmer that I've seen. He is playing university politics and it's probably getting him pats on the back behind the scenes but it's shocking.

What happened to him being forensic rather than quoting headlines and spokespeople?

Anyone wanting a laugh tune into the latest Labour party conference where you too can watch a once great party flounder around like a flapping fish out of water. Reading the crap on social medai from the likes of commie Corbyn they have no chance at the next election despite us enduring the worst set of ministers in power in living memory. Amusing in a way but also a really sad indictment of the times.

Unfortunately weak opposition means the government can continue to be useless and incompetent themselves, we’ll have at least another 9 years of this crap and a lot more if they aren’t sorted out by then.

Labour has become so utterly consumed by the identity politics ideology that its eating itself - which I always thought would happen and probably needs to happen so we can move past it. But it is sad. I'm generally a conservative voter, but an appallingly bad Labour enables the situation we're in, which is an appallingly bad Conservative party. We need 2 strong parties to hold each other to account and who run on the basis of what people genuinely care about and not whether its 'wrong' to say 'only women have a cervix'. FFS - no wonder the West is being left behind and our society is breaking down. China and Russia must be wetting themselves.

I watched some of the shitshow yesterday, i didn't know wether to laugh or cry. They are literally been given assist after assist by the most imcompetent government on record only to continually hit the ball over the bar, just like watching our attackers at City. They could rip the government apart on topics such as Covid, benefit cuts, brexit, logistic failures, not fit for purpose track and trace the list goes on, and yet they're banging out who does or doesn't have a cervix or making comments about too many white men putting their hands up to ask questions FFS. And don't get me started on the 'comrade' bollocks. A party so out of touch with the real world and first world problems, they're an embarrassment to this country.

Corbyn supporters are like chastised children who stomp their feet bcause they don't get their own way, do they not understand what this man did at the last election? He has divided the party more than ever, he allowed an incompetent Johnson to gain control and is still trying to do it from a position of having no role in the party anymore. I despise Blair, but i'll give him credit for knowing how to play the game and allow the likes of my brother in law and my wifes nephew a further education they would have had under the tories.
I've stated before, Johnson or whoever is in charge doesn't even need to run a campaign next election, Labour will win for them.

Employment shadow Secretary because he was told not to argue for £15ph minimum wage. Sure he was told not to because it would look madness to be campaigning for such a raise. Aim for achievable things and then push on

They need to stop holding the conference. Every time they hold it, it's just a long list of gaffes and divisions which lead to ridicule all over social media.

It's a waste of time, they're getting closer and closer to the Conservatives on policy - Of that 11,000 word essay that Starmer wrote there might have been a few sentences that couldn't have been straight out of any Consevative document.

All the while they're perpetually going against things they campaigned for previously such as nationalising power (surely a great time to extol the virtues of it if that's what you believe) and a significantly higher minimum wage. The problem is that while a lot of these policies are massively popular amongst the student activists they are vote losers in the general population so they have to switch their message back and forth.

Even when they announce something close to a policy it's always the "easy" stuff - £28bn a year of investment to help the UK reach its climate targets, axe business rates which saves companies £30bn - and replace this revenue with what?? One sided arguments on tax will never get the vote no matter how nice it sounds.....Corbyn is living proof of it.

They're lucky that some in the country have a deep hatred for the Tories and will steadfastly refuse to see any positives that and Blue government ever does despite knowing deep down that such a one sided approach can't actually be true. That's not to say the Conservatives get everything right either but there is a balance - it's not a marvel comic where it's good vs evil.

Don't Labour realise its the likes of me they should be aiming at? I've voted once in my life, over 30 years ago. I have no allegiance to any political party but am willing to vote to who gives me a bona fide set of policies and a set of competent potential MPs to implement them, something different to the status quo we currently have.

And then you try and watch their party conference. And just shake your head in disbelief.

    No wonder i don't vote.

I've voted a handful of times, always tory. But what I see now, ain't tory principles being played out. If ever there was a time that I was going to be convinced to shift, its now. But there's not a cat in hells chance with how I see Labour operate and what I see them being dominated by in terms of their agenda.

You'll never find a party that offers you AND gives you most of what will appeal to you but I'm a strong advocate of saying that everyone should vote even if it's only for the one that is the least worse of the choice in front of you...

Me too. I've voted both ways and will probably vote in different directions again over the course of my lifetime. Like you I'm probably an easy win for them.

I don't like the current main cabinet with the possible exception of Sunak (there's a bit of me that wants to like Raab but he's too much of a sociopath :joy:) but when I look at alternatives and the people who stand out as intelligent and sensible they're all actually on the fringes of the government or on the Tory back benches. There hasn't been a Labour speech that has actually 'spoken' to me in probably 3 years.

It's all empty platitudes about "people with the broadest shoulders" and identity politics that mean nothing at all to me. Even when they actually stumble across an idea that I generally agree with (removing charitable status from private schools) they fall over on as soon as they're pressed on any details. They're too scared to accept there's any negative connotations from any of their decisions.

People can say what they like about Corbyn but at least he had a vision (whether it was misplaced or not) and energised some people. They don't even have that any more and are just completely rudderless and devoid of ideas.

In general people vote against something rather than for it, The way to Tories are going Labour will not have to do to much to win but probably will not even achieve that,

Infact if the various factions within Labour took this approach and got behind a leader they would pretty much win the next election. They might not all like Starmer and his ideas might/don't appeal to all but he's the best chance of getting to power where they can actually achieve anything. Great to stand behind your political view points waving the socialist worker mag around but ultimately you achieve feck all with the rest of your 'comrades'.

Must admit I found this hilarious. Most of the UK businesses are on their knees and this guy wants a £15 per hour minimum wage. How many can realistically afford that. A high minimum wage like that is unsustainable as it pushes everyone elses wage up too, especially between skilled/unskilled, shop floor and shop management. There is still going to be divide in wages and it will cripple most businesses.

If he is going to resign on the back of a non sensical arguement like that, well I think labour are well shot of him.
