    For a scenario to occur for MH to attract interest we would need to be solidly top end L1, in which case it would put him in a position to see his project here go further and massively increase his stock, and another thing worth mentioning is if we were in such a lofty position then the interest of managers we'd attract would be high quality, but tbh to be talking about this 5 games in is a bit daft really.

    @Kevin1954@Kevin1954 you note the interest in Paudie from Sheff Wed, and the supposed urgency in signing players like him up?

    Not trying to rub anything in or jump the gun, just wonder if you feel your £10 might be in greater danger than a couple of weeks ago? :laughing:

    I think he was alluding to the fact that they could quite easily attract the attention of higher clubs and we could be fending off approaches.

    I'm taking a very wait and see approach, heard that sort of spiel before. I suspect he'd be off if a prem club came in tomorrow to be totally honest.

    I'd go along with something like this.

    Definitely keeping Paudie, Cooke, and Watt, as I think they're our better players. Andy Cook I'd keep as trying to signing multiple goalscorers is a nonsense, Walker looks good enough, Foulds should be part of the squad and can't be expensive, Vernam I don't really care either way, Sutton and Hendrie probably are reasonably priced squad players too.

    Not sure I'd keep Songo'o or Ridehalgh, but given both are contracted for next season anyway it might be a decision we get to make.

    Abo Eisa is here, who knows, maybe he'll be a Mark Marshall-type story but nobody can really comment on him as he hasn't played.

    I know people are down on these players with good reason, but even with all those players in the building we'll still need to sign double figures worth of new players which is more than enough scope for change. Hughes would have easily enough room to manoeuvre and shape a squad capable of challenging for the automatic promotion spots.

    I don't think we need to worry about Hughes having his hands tied by what must be, overall, one of the cheapest squads we've ever fielded.

    That may well be what he meant, but not what he typed. You say, ‘attract the attention of higher clubs and we could be fending off approaches’. Again I agree with that comment, but they have contracts, so there would have to be some form of compensation.

    Agree with that. However he remained at Morecambe until the end of the season.

    A contract is a contract. There will be clauses in them and financial restraints, which bind the parties, unless they agree to end respective their obligations.

    Kane Wilson is out of contract in June, only 21 and has 3 goals and 14 assists this season from right back. Would be a good signing but is sure to attract attention higher up the leagues. FGR should have extended him last year as they would have got a decent sum for him, or maybe he turned one down knowing that he can do far better than a pub team
