Not that a player is bigger than the club, but how I've seen him treat important players is why he goes for me. Jamie Walker is better than any of the midfielders we had on the bench, I also remember him dropping Pointon for a while and I don't believe he is up to managing a club with expectations. He's perfect for Grimsby or someone like that

Yep. It isn't because we have had an amazing year that is one of our best or anything amazing or ground breaking. The league this year is poor, we have had a semi decent season that any other year would get us into play offs, or just miss out. Claiming that we have had an amazing year etc is just wrong. We had a good couple of months.

Give your heads a shake. He has done miles better than countless other managers. If Andy Cook didn't do his knee in they would have been promoted weeks ago.

Adams and Hughes will be free soon. Let's get one of them back.

There’s a lot of recency bias going on at the moment. If you swapped the timing of this current run of form with our great run post Christmas, and we had made a late surge and scraped into 3rd place I imagine the sentiment would be different. If we beat Fleetwood and come 3rd then it has been a successful season and GA has overseen our best league finish in decades and a record breaking run of home form. I think he has done his job and talk of getting rid seems pretty mad.

Consider as well that this has been achieved with some terrible injuries. Lost all our CBs early in the season, had Sarcevic and Pattison out for long spells in the first and second half of the season, lost Cook for half the season, no Richards for the last few months.

After all the upheaval in recent years it seems crazy that so many people want GA gone when we’re on the cusp of a top 3 finish.

I do agree-talk of getting rid now is ridiculous, however despite all the injury setbacks that are obviously outside his control, he has shown his own limitations with some seriously questionable decisions.
The title of this thread asks if we should be extending his contract. I'm saying absolutely not at this stage. Hopefully we go up next week, and then we get to do the squad building that's going to be needed for League 1. If we are competitive at Christmas, then we can talk about a contract extension but not before

I suppose on reflection we/I should be more patient with GA.

He has done a good job overall, much better than most.

It's annoying that he has some fairly serious flaws, but as long as we go up, it's still a job well done.

We can't call it a failure even if the last few weeks have been a really unnecessary and self-inflicted poor period until it's actually a failure - which, fortunately, it looks like it won't/shouldn't be.

One more win and the season was a good success. Still, no contract extension as it stands, let's just see how he/we get(s) on in L1.

That's about the fairest and most level headed I think we should be.

Alexander has just been announced as the manager of the season. Listening to his interview after being awarded the trophy I think he knew there are others that should have won it. There was 1 strange comment that I could be reading too much into it but he said "whatever happens next week I've loved working for Bradford City" which I thought was a comment that managers often make when they think they could be leaving

I agree but his decision making under pressure in recent months has been very very poor. He needs to step a level just like the players.

Like he said, his decision making in games have been made due to illness and injuries.

He should be getting a new deal how many other better manager have come here over the last 7/8 years and fooked it up.

Was the last 2 months good ????? Nope but had remained injury free we would have been up weeks ago added the huge pressure to get us over the line then he deserves to be promoted.

How many on here regarded going down to VP a chote rather than going to see a good match ?????
GA has given us all the buzz back and should be rewarded

Well I did say ‘not sure yet’ in April 2025. Just confirm that I am now sure!

Happy that Graham Alexander has stayed, he has settled well, shown an adaptable approach and playing far more exciting football.

Anyone else want to reconsider, perhaps those who felt he should go?

We played this absolutely perfectly getting it sorted in pre-season, there was no benefit to dragging it on into the season when it would have become a talking point and distraction. It also takes away any uncertainty with the players so they can just concentrate on their football

For GA to go, or want to go there'd have to be a major falling out or broken promises, non of which seem plausible at the moment. The key person at the club is David Sharpe. There's no coincidence that his arrival has seen a remarkable turnaround at the club with almost all the recruits brought in being a success. Before him we were lucky to get 3 or 4 out of 10. I'm not sure what length of contract he has, but he's the next key person to tie down.
