    Correct.
No time for sentiment when there’s a deal to be done

Depends how many hand in their notice. Chansiri doesn't want to spend a penny and hasn't on a fair few for 2 months, I believe they missed March pay too? But going from paying nothing to everything owed inside 2 weeks wont be a nice pill to swallow.

If it sticks to the reported 6 or 7, then maybe he pays it. But if say another 5 or 6 hand their notice in tomorrow after waiting to see who else wants out, then suddenly it's a disaster. I reckon they pay a few out in full and a few leave. Sounds like Rohl is leaving too, so it's not like they'll have a manager to say "I need X player".

Aye, Neil Warnock across the same city did us over around admin time for Andy Gray and the full back that later went to Bournemouth. Edit: Simon Francis.

Million pound Gray burgled from us for a pittance!

Just talking to a mate of mine at work who's a Wednesday fan and he's beyond fuming with it all. Over £1300 in season tickets for him and his sons and its going to be tragic at the min. Rumour is there is an interested buyer now he says.

Mentioned Josh Windass and he said every club should really ask themselves if they want a player like him at the club. He said on his day he's magic, but his day is 1 in 10 maybe more and in the other 9 games he's either frustrating or non-existent. But his attitude has always been a worry too, always a bit too big for his boots attitude has got him in trouble a few times there. Like he's too good for it all.

It appears that there are several bidders who are interested in buying the Owls .. but not on Chansiri's terms! He of course owns the club but separately, through other companies, he owns Hilsborough and the training ground. According to Chansiri, they're not part of the deal. That's a bit of a surprise to at least one of the bidders who has pulled out. Who in their right mind would want to leave the Owls' ground and the training facilities under the control of the current owner given his track record?

A couple more bidders have shown interest in buying the Owls. One a New Jersey based Italian- American with lots of fingers in many pies who has previously been involved in the purchase of several Italian and Spanish clubs in their second tier. Nothing came of them once he'd been asked to show the colour of his money. The other is a billionaire owner in the NBA who clearly has the money and apparently has offered to provide some funding to help the Owls even before the sale is completed. The downside in some fans' eyes is that he was also a funder of the Trump campaign. The US purchase of English football looks likely to continue.

Bradford-based Wednesday fan here. Have read this thread with interest. It’s been quite a summer and for the last two months I’ve been helping out with the Suuporters Trust in a financial sub-group. Currently working on shaping the Trust’s role in helping fans with season ticket refunds.

There are many knowns and as many unknowns about Dejphon Chansiri. What is known is that whatever money he had (or had available to him) he put all on black in 2016 to 2018. When it landed on red we’ve paid the price ever since because he had no plan B.

Many fans saw this coming from very early on (eg when he changed the badge from the traditional minimalist owl used since the 70s) and it’s taken 10 years for the majority to wake up to his destruction of the club.

Relegation is a nailed on certainty for the coming season, if indeed we start the season at all. Rumours abound that buyers are interested but if it happens it will happen too late to make a difference. We’ve lost a large chunk of last year’s first team squad including Gassama to Rangers for a reported £2.2m. When Rangers sell him on for £20m in a year or so we won’t see any of that.

Hillsborough is falling to bits. Apart from a new TV and carpet in the early days, the place has had no money spent on it in 10 years. In fact there’s been no major work done since the 90s. It literally is a rust bucket and as of today, we don’t know if the North Stand (the large cantilever stand), which houses around 7500 season ticket holders, will be closed because of maintenance work that has been put off since 2021. Ironically, it will be quite fitting to have the stand with his name plastered over it (he replaced SWFC soon after buying the club) empty for all the world to see.

Every day is another shitshow. As a Trust we are working to try and get buyers interested, we’re looking at a Pompey style fan rescue and we’re looking at what it takes to form a phoenix club. It’s hard, unrelenting work.

I follow City with interest and was there for your fantastic promotion game. I will probably be back at VP again this season as, having boycotted Hillsborough since Covid, I have no intention of returning until the cancer has been ripped out of my club.

Good luck to City in L1.

The club statement is unadulterated meaningless spin without the context of what is actually being done to solve the problem.

I hope somebody does buy them and saves the club. Unfortunately Chansiri seems intent on putting an unrealistic pricetag on the club. But even he will have to be more reasonable or the club will be doomed and he will lose serious dosh. I really hope that they won't become the next Bury but with Chansiri in control, nothing would surprise me at all.

It’s probably a valuable club to Yanks with bottomless pits of cash and moreso now with Trumps tax cuts for $billionaires.

It's increased even further then .. sort of. About a month ago, it was 'only' £75mill! A bidder matched his price at which point Chansiri announced he now wanted £150mill. It's bizarre.

A wealthy US bidder, former ambassador and financial supporter of Trump, who also owns an NBA franchise, is rumoured to be interested. Whether he's willing to pay Chansiri's current price is another matter.

It's come out that Chansiri wouldn't pay for the travel or hotel for their friendly last weekend either, Burnley paid for it all out of their pocket because they didn't want to be without an opponent last minute. Christ knows how they are going to play games this season.

I don't think this article really grasps how on the edge Sheffield Wednesday are.

There is a very real possibility that if the EFL don't think Sheffield Wednesday have the money to complete the season they will most likely suspend them from the league for a period of time like what is happening to Morecambe and what happened to Bury, after that period if the club can't satisfy the EFL that they have the funds to finish the season they'll have no option but to expel them from the EFL and unless a takeover was to happen there is no way the National League will accept them next season. If that happens then it is very likely to be the end of the club.
