But it's manageable, the deficit you linked to season tickets has no relevance does it? All the season ticket revenue will be put into the playing budget and the debt will decrease every year as I imagine Rupp will make some sort of contribution year on year to clear it.

I agree he's an investor he will want a return which to me indicates he'll put money in? He's not going to get any return on his investment in league 2 is he? Probably not even league 1.

    Correct!

In our first season of launching the initiative, we had sold circa 13,500 ST’s. The total reduced to just over 12,000 the season after. Then, we consistently sold between 9,500-10,500 for the remaining 4 season’s.

Even in our first season back in L1, we sold 12,800. With all of this taking into consideration, it just goes to show how well the Fans’ have responded to this offer and the inevitable relegation - remarkable.

Im not disagreeing but £150 for 23 games is hard not to turn down. Not many clubs can afford to offer that kind of reduced price. We have made a slight rod for our back by doing so.

That’s not right apart from building a big fan base for the future more people in the ground means more revenue in catering shirt sales and business backing. The affordable pricing is a credit to Julian Rhodes

Why is it a rod for our own backs ?.
Its Stefan who's made the decision he's openly said he will do all he can to put the mess Rahic left the club in right.
Maybe he is a better business man than many think, ie bums on seats buying food, drink, merchandise, hospitality etc.

You mean the mess Rupp created??
And while yes more season tickets means more revenue.... How did that go this season?
People seem to be getting their back up with my comments but all I’m saying is that while 12000 season tickets is impressive its insanely cheap.

The rod for our own back is because the fans are now used to paying this. Should we charge around the average then I would expect that 12000 to be halved.

I don't understand what you mean?....its quite simple really. If we sell our ST's at roughly the same as every other club down the bottom 2 divisions we have X budget. We sell 12/13k at reduced price the budget is still X...unless i'm missing something. More people around the ground spending. It makes even MORE sense now we'll be back in league 2.

Its not a "rod", its a clever piece of marketing....also....would you rather be surrounded by City fans or empty seats?...i know which i prefer.

Spot on, we have no choice than to offer cheap tickets else we would have around 6k at VP most weeks

When you consider the Board actually SAID they would like to charge just £1 per a game in the PL, should we get there. Affordable football was always the aim ......... So no rod to be seen from me.

Wasn't it Rahic who said that rather than 'the board'?

And it was simply attention grabbing bollocks otherwise there'd be some evidence in the current PL set up to support it being a deliverable strategy for PL clubs. And I'm not aware of any of the current 20 clubs who charge a quid to watch their games! It's an even more competitive world in the EPL than in the lower leagues and for any owner to suggest what Rahic did really doesn't understand real-life football finances.

Until we are asked to pay more its only speculation on your part, if as you predict the attendances dropped to 6,000 because of higher season ticket prices I would hope Stefan has done his homework with regards dearer season ticket prices against a reduction in the sales of food, drink etc, and of ccourse a large stadium less than a third full, does Stefan want to bring those days back, I would hope not.

I believe Stefan was aware of the statement, and didn't challenge it.
And yes, you are correct regarding the PL Clubs.
However, they will have crunched the numbers, and probably found that 14k will spend more than 7k in League 2, when you consider merchandising and commercial sponsorship.

We were hearing similar comments before the prices were announced, I'm not renewing no matter what price the tickets are because of the way Rahic had run our club, then lo and behold we have sold 14,000 or there abouts if we can believe yesterday comments.

Maybe, but he also knows he will have to wait. Start cutting the funding will most certainly mean his investment will go down the pan. Put us in admin, nil return, don’t invest, same outcome. If we suffer a further relegation we most certainly out of business given we won’t be able to play at VP. So which ever way he goes he loses money. The only way is to support the club and invest in the club now, to avoid the above. Or he cuts his losses now, but if he was going to do that he would have done it in January.

Thing is, if prices were £300 we wouldn't sell many. If we get to 14K that's great, however how many of those are flexi card holders rather than season ticket holders? It's not great financially for the club especially with the £2M debt this season.
The only way for Stefan to make his money back his promotions and cup runs. Tough gig for GB to take on to deliver that.

I dont take much notice of the finances of other clubs but the subject gets brought up now and again and most club run a deficit were told.
