Has he had a bust up with Hughes?

Hughes explanation that he has not been included in the squad since his injury because of the new formation doesn't make sense when he has another winger in Nevers on the bench.

Banks looks a far more effective player than Nevers has shown so far.

    Very strange

I thought Nevers looked robust on Tuesday night.

Eisa had a bit of a stinker, unfortunately, so either way, you'd think Banks would be ahead of one or the other.

I like what I have seen from Nevers. Raw but wants the ball not afraid to tackle. I thought Banks was still injured?
Less enthusiastic about Eisa. Is he playing out if position? He can’t head the ball, he managed one header out of a few. Looks to be pulling out of contact with the opposition. Like a clear run but that is about it.

Banks is fit and ready but doesn't fit in with the new formation

Nevers has played centrally before so he has that whereas Banks is an out and out winger so he only comes on if we change to a 4231 or similar. I really wouldn't read a lot into it and if anyone's place on the bench is at risk it is probably Chapman.

He's confident on the ball and not afraid to shoot. Sounds exactly like the kind of player we should be getting in the team!

I heard Hughes say something on these lines in one of his recent post match interviews .. and it still puzzles me! There's little doubt that Banks is a good player and as we saw earlier in the season, has the skills and abilities to make a difference on the pitch. Hughes may not regard him as a starter in his terms but why he isn't even on the bench as a finisher defeats me. I find it a bizarre decision.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Banks was playing as a 10 at Palace so you're probably right that he might at some point get Chapman's spot on the bench.

Banks’s set piece delivery is also a lot better than our esteemed captain can do. I said it on Tuesday (ironically just before we scored our second) that the best form of defence when we’re hanging on with 20 mins to go, is to chuck some pacey players on and tell them to stay on the last defender. We invite way too much pressure on ourselves when we’re trying to see out the game. Give the oppo a reason to keep players in their own half. Banks would be ideal for this.

its definitely an odd one for sure, i actually think he has a lot more about him than Nevers to be honest. I was surprised when Nevers was brought on the other night for walker in the last few minutes, given when a similar substitution was made in the mansfield game Nevers failed to do his job and missed the lad at the back stick for the equaliser. He also appears to one of those head down run as fast as you can wingers aswell, as opposed to Banks who seemingly to me anyway is a more rounded player.

I mirror a few of the thoughts above around Eisa, I cant see what he adds to the team unfortunately, he generally looks lost , especially the other night alongside Cook. He appears to lack the game awareness to be where cook wanted him to be and i've also noticed a lot when he is dribbling its like he doesn't know where the ball is. More of than not its either stuck between his feet or bouncing off his shins. Hughes seems to like though and he obviously knows more than me, I just struggle to see what he brings to the team especially when starting or playing big minutes

Eisa didn't look interested when he came on v. Tranmere. Maybe cheesed off because Derbyshire has taken his place?

Players have been regulars, some have played then totally disappeared.
I think the team that gives us the best chances of keeping clean sheets is the one Hughes is going with and why not??
We have the 3rd best goals conceded in the league.
    Maybe it's experience??
Maybe it's understanding the games and adapting to different teams, something which Hughes has expressed all season.
A number of the players who played during the poor run in November and December, Banks, Odusina, Foulds, Chapman, Cook, Songo'o, have either been frozen out or shipped out, with only Cook returning.
Has he been the one who hasn't let his standards drop??
Has he lost weight and shown a greater desire to be back involved??
The way he has returned would suggest yes, whereas the way Chapman came on as sub against Mansfield would suggest he hasn't.
We need players with balls , experience and attitude to get us promotion.
Maybe Banks isn't that player ATM?

Eisa’s had one good game in all his time here. Home game. Might have been Salford? Id have Banks ahead of him in the squad (and the raw Nevers) all day long.

Agree. His Inswinging corners were very dangerous. It feels like we just don't value corners as a way of scoring goals!!

That is a good point. It has been a mystery to me that we have not sorted this glaringly obvious way to score goals and put the opposition under pressure. Although Clayton is far better than Smallwood, but Banks was good at it.

Banks doesn’t have the pace, Nevers does.

Motley Henry was faster than both but you wouldn't have him above either of them.

There has to be some product at the end of it. I'll admit Nevers hasn't had a great deal of time to show this but on the evidence so far banks is a more rounded player

It makes total sense to me. Tuesday's formation was a 4312 and we spoke about it on the way home and all three of us agreed that we couldn't see how Banks would fit into that.

Would you take a headless chicken like Joe Colbeck over a winger with end product who is slower….Nicky Summerbee for example?

Neither are as good as summberbee but Banks looks like he has more quality IMO. Never is just a raw kid with pace on what he’s shown so far IMO
