Obviously McCall alluded to missing players and any fair minded Bradford City fan will accept 5 of those 6 would be starters, but as McCall said the guys who have the shirt have to step up, unfortunatly some of them are barely out of nappies a big ask but McCall did not have a lot of choice with those 6 out.
I know I may be in the minority certainly on this forum but until we get another manager in I will give Stuart McCall my full backing even though it is hard to swallow as a fan, here's yesterdays post match interview.

I didnt watch the match, and turned off the radio at half time, but it is telling reading Simon Parker's ratings that he has given O'Donnell the MOTM with a rating of 6

Fair enough Broncs but they were missing 3 including Darren Gibson who beat us on his own last time.

It's a tragedy that we have so few players who we could build off in our squad. This in itself creates a logistical nightmare for turning things around. Beginning to agree with those who allude to the fact that we have to tread water for this season and then, when contracts run out, clear the decks and rebuild (again). Rupp's ambition has to manifest itself one way or another as to the direction we take.We cannot limp on as we are at present.

First time in about 3 years, I’ve looked at my watch and not rushed back to put the tv on. Saw the goal updates and just groaned. I’m presuming we weren’t in with a shout at all? Samuels missed a sitter? Seeing those subs coming on, would hardly have worried Salford. Such a weak, weak squad.

No one can argue we were beaten convincingly yesterday but I think we would have fared better with the likes of Novak, Cooke,Hosannah,Staunton and Clarke in the starting line up but we are where we are.
Stuart (I hope) was the one making the decisions with regards a small squad tight squad that was easier to work with knowing this season the games would be coming thick and fast playing Saturday/Tuesday/Wednesday week in week out any sort of medium to long term injury could devastate a small squad, maybe not the best decision in hindsight.

The Samuel effort just about summed us up easier to score than miss yet he did, not suggesting it would have made a lot of difference but from our miss they go up the field and should have scored their 3rd goal and kill the game off but we didn't have to wait long before that happend, game over as we had nothing on the bench that could change anything.

Fair comment Dave we had 5 starters out
No ones knows for sure but hand on heart can you say the result would have been much different yesterday if they had started
Stuart needs to leave to preserve what little reputation as a manager he has left for his own good it's starting to cloud judgement on "Stuart the player"
Can't be easy managing a club whose only ambition is mid table and who's to say the mythical new CEO will want him
Baffles me why he is still hanging around can't be short of a bob or two

As I posted in my reply to wetherbywhaler I'm not suggesting the result would have been anything different but I stand by my comment the likes of Novak, Cooke, Hosannah, Staunton and Clarke would have given Salford a harder time.
I can't see Stuart going at the moment still plenty of football to be played, but for sure we need bodies back sooner rather than later.

But 4 of those have been playing recently and we were still poor, not counting Southend and Tonbridge

    Exeter City, poor ?.

    Tonbridge Angels, poor?.

    Southend United, poor ?.

You cant pick and choose those were are last 3 games and we performed well in them with Clarke, Cooke and Hosannah all playing some suggesting even with a makeshift striking partnership we were looking better, I'm not saying we would have beaten Salford but I would suggest we would have been more of a threat.

So we had 5 missing and they had 3 missing, so on a balance we were two players shorter than them, that shouldn’t make a real difference

That would suggest the players who filled in for Salford's injuries were better than the players who filled in for our injured players, but that is down to us relying on kids because McCall preferred a small tight squad.

Had we gone with a standard 4-4-2 and picked the right players we would have had a good chance of a result, Playing 3 at the back with players who do not have the discipline or ability to play a system that is vulnerable to any team with pace was just suicide, That McCall thought any different is worrying
