Well this was my final away match last season, before it ending prematurely. What a dismal day out. We never got going and were well beaten by a solid Salford. Again remember the first goal coming from a driving midfield run, where we backed off and didn’t make a challenge.

The ground looks like it is a temporary prefabricated affair. Compact and a bit tinny.

Since then they have sacked Alexander and enticed Wellens to return north.

Their home form is unbeaten this season, although they have a lot of draws, which is the best result I can see us achieving.

A lot will depend on our defence concentrating and not giving silly goals away, like the first one against Exeter.

Will miss the pre match pint in Manchester and Upper Broughton.

    A long afternoon I guess.

Big test and I’m not sure we will pass it. McCall talks about having to change it around with the amount of games coming up now but hopefully we keep the same tactic and similar side that has done quite well with us so far these last few weeks.

I think Salford will start to pick up under wellens but hopefully not this weekend

They were awful at Bolton last Friday and to me signing Boyd has upset their style, seemed to have no connection at all with Henderson. Having said that Bolton appear to have learned lessons and closed them down very quickly to stop them playing. Very poor game, we have to do a Bolton on them and if so I feel we will get something out of the game.

They have a very strong squad on paper for this level but it’s if they can click. Wellens did it at Swindon but maybe no pre season and games thick and fast might go against him at Salford and struggling to get his ideas across.

Have we got the players to close them down quickly without risking them passing us by and exploiting our flimsy defensive unit?Would need everybody at their best or we risk going behind and then chasing the game. And we all know how that usually ends.

Can’t say I know too much about Salford’s recent form but after watching our defensive performances this season I don’t have any hope of keeping a clean sheet in this one. So I suppose we just have to hope the strikers are on form and we win 5-4

Missing the away days!! Think we will win this one, we must defend better and O'Donnell needs to sort out his kicking, his throw out last Saturday was brilliant. We will see? CTID

Having listened to Kenny Blacks press conference Cooke and Clarke could be missing but Zeli may make an appearance.

    That's a downer.

Things like that make a tough time even harder.

Clarke has had a good season, and he and Cooke have the ability to cause problems even in an unbalanced midfield/attack.

Clayton up front with AN Other doesn't fill me with confidence.

Jon, the full article is in the T&A https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/18883721.cooke-bantams-biggest-injury-doubt-salford-game/

In particular it states, ‘Assistant boss Kenny Black confirmed that Clarke trained outside this morning but Cooke, who had to come off at half-time, has been limited to working in the gym alongside Lee Novak’.

The words alone “Clayton up top” doesn’t fill anybody with confidence

To be fair he's done better than I was expecting in Novaks absence. Given the choice between him and Gutless then Clayton wins hands-down (just putting his boots on the right feet give him that accolade to be fair)..

The difference being his mum used a Sharpie to mark L & R, whereas Guthrie's mother used chalk

Doesn’t that just show how low the bar is set for our strikers when just being slightly better than Guthrie is seen as a good thing
