The mismatch between social care and NHS areas is a nightmare. I used to work as an Approved Social Worker/Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), doing assessments under the 1983 Mental Health Act for compulsory admission to hospital (aka 'sectioning' people).
AMHP services are the legal responsibility of the local authority, which does not control the keys to NHS hospital beds. There were endless boundary disputes about which LA was responsible for doing MHA Assessments, which hospitals they should go to etc. Eg, the designated MH hospital for Burnley and Colne is Airedale - which is in Bradford Met - but the legal responsibility for doing the assessments is with East Lancs Social Services.
When it gets really complicated is where someone is registered to a GP practice that is in a different area. Say a person lives in Thornbury but their GP is in Pudsey. The NHS protocols would say they should go to a Leeds hospital, but the MHA says it's the legal responsibility of the Bradford AMHP team to do the assessment, based on their home address. Often the AMHP would then be stuck in the middle of a dispute between Leeds and Bradford NHS about which hospital should take the patient - Leeds or Bradford. Same sorts of disputes occur regarding residential care.
It would be so much simpler if the NHS and LA boundaries were co-terminus.

Absolutely right. I could give numerous examples of precisely what you describe. It is indeed a nightmare and those who suffer are usually the old and frail.

No surprises that if you allow committees of civil servants to set the boundaries for what is where and who controls what you get absolute confusion that only makes sense to highly paid bureaucrats of the civil service regardless on its impact on the public,

A great comment from Oliver Dowden at the conference yesterday referencing (London) civil servants still working from home. Get off your Pelotons and get back to work

Aye, cos we’re all sat at home on £1500 plus £40 a month exercise bikes whilst we’re meant to be working. Proper set of bell ends in this government.

I think it was aimed at London civil servants. It was discussed on the radio yesterday and that there is a feeling that many in the middle age to late middle age groups who are no longer chasing promotions do not want to return to the office
PS £1500 must be the cheap version

Never know with you. Anyone how thought Boris Johnson cared about the North you have to be careful around because they are not wired correctly.

So, I stand by comment. As a school in Leeds it’s shite and many in Bradford are better. All bells and whistles that school.

If anyone has the Athletic there is an article by Richard sutcliffe today about a “day in the life” of Ryan Sparks. Follows him from Saturdays game against port vale and some bits about plans for future.
    I can’t link as it’s a paid site

I don't think it would be interesting if it was a day in the life of a rich Premier League club's CEO lol at least in League Two none of it makes any sense embrace the chaos
