Wow what a game! A country and a language that very few people understand or respect. They even receive criticism for what they eat and their strange dress code!!! A country and its population that has been battered by the extreme weather conditions. A nation not known for its rugby ..... and now they have lost to Japan!

    ;);)

Why? Being passionate about your home country should never be a bad thing so why do I have to be a rugby fan to cheer on England at a world cup?

England have been fantastic. Hope they can see it out, means we don't have to witness the overhyped boring haka anymore.

That game was worthy of the final. A great performance from both sides but as Sean Fitzpatrick rightly said, the best team won. England were incredible at times and over 80mins outplayed the great All Blacks.

I'm still struggling to understand why England had two tries disallowed. The first I understand because the decoy runner was either offside or playing the player without the ball (or both in this case!) but the second was a surprise. It looked to me that although the ball was bobbling about in the rolling maul, Jamie George had his hand on the ball throughout. It couldn't therefore be either a knock-on or a forward pass which leaves me puzzled.

    Still a great game though.

Rugby is a load of bollocks. Just meatheads running into each other.

Im a Bradford lad but was educated at public school and served in the army. I started playing union at the age of 10/11 and played on and off for about 30 years so it's union all the way for me.

Run, pass, tackle, stop, wiggle around a bit, push ball between legs. Run, pass, tackle, stop, wiggle around a bit, push ball between legs. Run, pass, tackle, stop, wiggle around a bit, push ball between legs. Repeat ad infinitum and then score. Then repeat ad infinitum some more. And then some more again.
    Yawn. No thanks.
There is a reason that no one outside of the M62 corridor and Australia gives two hoots about RL (and a decreasing number of those to boot). Because it's one dimensional and boring.

Not a fan of rugby in general, find both codes stop start and in the main dull. But I watched England this morning and enjoyed it I have to say, I struggled to be full engaged some of the time but what impressed me was the ref more than anything. Football could learn a lot from rugby in that respect.

I’ll never be a fan but I’ll probably watch and cheer England on for the rest of the tournament, who knows it might draw me in.

This is pathetic organisation by the IRFU. Unbelievable that they didn't schedule any contingency days, given that they knew it was typhoon season in Japan.
Not such a big deal in England's group but It's very tough on Italy missing out on playing the All Blacks. And if Japan v Scotland gets cancelled that will lock in Japan as group winners and lock out Scotland. Much as I want to see Japan win the group, that would be a travesty of justice.
    Unbelievably bad planning.

As a Welsh Rugby fan I have to admit that England were totally awesome today, from the first minute to the last it was pretty much flawless rugby against the world's best team in a world Cup semi final.
Can they maintain that level again next week? If they can then they will win irrespective of who they play.
Wales need to raise their level tomorrow and, if they manage to win, it will be a dream final for both English and Welsh fans.
Thought the ref today was great, apart from maybe the second disallowed try, football could learn a lot from how referees in Rugby behave and are respected by the players.

I think the captain, Farrell in this case, is the only player allowed to approach the ref to question a decision, so long as the ref is prepared to explain and justify his decision then I see no problem with this. As you say it was all very polite and civilised.

If that Wales v Saffers game had been my first experience of watching rugby I would probably never watch another game of rugby again ... What a bloody borefest!!
Rather than two teams trying to win the gane we had two teams trying so hard not to lose it.
Unless South Africa up their game a fair bit I see very little for England to worry about next week .

I have to agree, it was tense towards the end but as an overall spectacle it was terrible. England need to ensure they don't get sucked into those tactics and play their own game, if they stick to their game plan and release the ball early they will win. Totally baffled why Wales kicked the ball away so much. Gatland has been a great coach but got that one wrong.

Hope the second half is better than that turgid first half. Christ it was dull.
