    Well we end our 2018 annus horribilis just like it started, with a trip over the Pennines. Hopefully, it will end just like it started, with three points, and we can try and forget everything that happened inbetween.

    The defence is probably the one part of the team that needs to be a unit. No surprise that they've started to work better together now they're more of a team and fitter. Probably have more of a plan too. Credit to Hopkin and the coaching team.

    Very good comments about the team on Rochdale fans forum, except for the usual moronic behaviour by some (on both sides).

    I wasn’t sure either. I think a lot of that came from the failure of the last 12 months and progress seemed painfully slow. For me the big change in my thoughts on Hopkin are simple. We stopped playing the aimless long ball to two strikers which did not lend itself at all to their skillset. It also negated any chance we had of seeing the best of our technically gifted players like Ball, Payne and O’Brien. Bringing in Caddis was a masterstroke.
    Maikng use of the ball to feet and putting the ball down the channels rather than down the middle has transformed our play. Although its early days we are now seeing a team playing some of the best attacking play i’ve witnessed for years. Whether it lasts will depend on who goes and stays in January but at the moment Hopkin has it bang on. A lot more of the same i hope.

    Performance of the season. Total transformation. The football we played in the first half, Rochdale fans must be wondering why the hell we are at the bottom. Fluid, confident, creative, attacking football.
    Great to watch. Great to get the feeling back. A few players added next week, and I think we will go on to be quite a force.
