Very sad news, like many others I didn't know Kenny personally but recognise him from away days. I have fond memories of travelling to away games with my dad in the 90's - Kenny was one of the faces I always remembered seeing. A true City Gent, a legend. RIP KENNY.

**I am sure this will be done but I hope we will be having a minutes silence before the game on Saturday in memory and out of respect for Kenny. Someone on here will have a contact to arrange this - hopefully they will comment below to confirm that this is being arranged.**

RIP Deaf Kenny. I remember him getting in as a concession for under 16 at an away game when he must have been in his forties by saying he could not hear the woman on the turn style saying he was too old ! One of the most loyal supporters we must have ever had. I agree a mention from the club or a silence would be very appropriate for his loyalty over the years. I'm sure a few in the Corn Dolly will have a beer for him after his funeral.

    Barnsley Fan in peace
I’ve just heard the terrible news regarding Kenny, me and my lad were walking up to the ground and saw Kenny stumble and then fall to the ground, hitting his head on the ground, another Barnsley supported ran and got a mounted policeman who sent for the ambulance, it really shook us both up and certainly puts football in to perspective,
RIP Kenny, thoughts are with his family

Why on earth would you discharge yourself without been checked over? He could of prevented his own death. Feel for his family etc. R.I.P

Sorry Carts but the Club just does not do this.
What we do actually do, like many other Clubs, is remember all those who have passed at the last home game of each season in conjunction with the Fire Tribute. Everton, for example do their tribute to those passed on the last home game of every calendar year and that collective arrangement is better.

Ah I see well thank you for letting me and everyone else know, appreciated. I have actually just sent an email to the reporter who covered the story to ask if he knew of any arrangements being made and if not whether or not he would be in a position to contact the club in an effort to arrange something. This was done only out of respect for Kenny and prior to me finding out what you have just told me. Thanks again.
    RIP Kenny

I would have thought that there will be an investigation into whether Kenny had the capacity to make the decision to discharge himself, given the fact that he had sustained a head injury. Lessons to be learned maybe but sadly that won’t bring Kenny back.

Deaf Kenny RIP. I went on plenty of trips with him from the Corn Dolly, he was City through and through. My favourite moment though was at Rotherham just before kick off and there was a minute's silence going on. He walked in down the stairs and started shouting Come On City. A lot of people tried to shhhh him but to no avail.

The club should make some effort of recognition of the sad death of one of its most dedicated fans in some way,

A gathering at the Corn Dolly would be an opportunity for people to meet up and remember the good times with Kenny.

Poor Kenny. I remember him well from my time travelling with The Shipley Bantams. A really nice, gentle bloke who was City through and through. R.I.P.

Police appealing for more information and for anyone to come forward.

APPEAL: Enquiries into death of man in Barnsley continue

Detectives investigating the discovery of the body of a man in Barnsley are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Emergency services were called to Smithies Pond at around 8.30am on Sunday 13 January, where the body of 56-year-old Kenneth Morse was found. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained and as enquiries continue, officers are now appealing for information, as T/Detective Chief Inspector Simon Palmer explains.

“We continue to piece together Mr Morse’s movements prior to his death and we know that the he arrived in Barnsley by public transport on the morning of Saturday 12 January with the intention of attending the Barnsley football match. He left the Courthouse Public House at around 10.20am.

“Mr Morse was later found with a head injury at around 2pm in an underpass on Pontefract Road. He was taken to hospital in Barnsley but left later that evening, before being formally discharged. The CCTV image shows him leaving hospital that day.

“A missing person enquiry was then launched before his body was found the following morning. His family continue to be supported by specialist officers.”

A post-mortem examination was carried out however further results are awaited in order to establish the cause of death.
T/DCI Palmer added: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw Mr Morse after he left the Courthouse Public House until he was found on Pontefract Road on Saturday 12 January.

“If you have any information that could assist with our enquiries, please call 101 quoting incident number 246 of 13 January 2019. You can also speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

As Mr Morse had been reported missing prior to his death, the incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), as is routine in such cases.
