You obviously love a wind up, but this rhetoric is so so boring.

The next step up from a championship captain CM that played basically every game last season, is the equivalent premier league player.

I know you won’t answer this, but if hypothetically we signed James Ward Prowse, would you actually be satisfied that it was a good (better than decent) signing?

    I think we are.

The main issue we had last season was sticking the ball in the net, and drawing too many under Adams.

At the end of the season it looked like Hughes' tactics were halfway to addressing that issue on their own, and he's added a number of forwards who could provide firepower.

I don't feel we've improved defensively on last season's side, in fact three-quarters of it is the same on paper, but if we're a possession-based side, bringing in players further up the field might not be the worst way to invest our playing budget.

Actually currently we are. 21/22 has officially finished and 22/23 is currently displaying alphabetically so technically I think we are top three.

We’ll done to everyone who got this deal through especially Mr Rupp who has put his money where his mouth isn’t. I think Richie Smallwood took a look at our home kit and thought I like playing in amber.

He’s beyond help or just being plain Fordy?

I really want to see Dion back , plus a RB ( unless the Walsall lad is coming in to play the wing back role?) and a CB.
Watt I’m meh about either way but for his footballing education should learn a lot from Smallwood and maybe another 18 -24 months with a release clause built in?

I'm pretty sure Dion will be back when Luton have sorted their situation out.

Agreed. Looks like Gent used his experience/influence to get Chapman in as well.

I remember watching the away game against Vale l, on Sky. They brought up L2 stats for most chances created. Cooke was top, by a mile.

    He has talent. No doubt.

Cooke is not a defensive midfielder. It's not what he does well. If your looking for a scoring 10 I'd look elsewhere but as the stats show he was high up there in key passes and chances created. What Cooke didn't have the benefit of and what the players this season will have is Richard Smallwood anchoring the midfield. That's a proper DM. And that gives others the platform to do what they do well.

It's just an opinion I have on football. I'll leave it there now with you and agree to disagree regarding our opinions on the particular subject.

If City don't finish top 7 I'll donate £150 to the burns unit. If we do you put in £50?

Either way it's a winner for a great cause. Get behind it @Fordy117@Fordy117 , over a season it's not a huge amount of money and whatever happens someone will benefit

When was the last time there was a team who became League Two champions after a poor season?

Accrington in 17/18 was the last time it was a team that didn't make the play offs.

If we're making bets on who wins the division, you'd be hard pressed to look outside of last season's play off teams.

    Law of averages.

For a top three finish, it's pretty unlikely (statistically) that a team outside the top 13 would make it.

Like it or not, we're going to have to go against the grain here.

We have certainly flexed our muscles in the transfer market. We've left most teams behind.

That could potentially help level the playing field - but some teams will have established first team players from last season already in the building. That can be more valuable than making good signings.

We're doing the best we can to build on a series of poor seasons and bad leadership from the top.

But history still stands against us. Top 7 is the target.
