Indeed. It’s sad, looking at what the city has become. It needs something to pin its hopes and focus on, and the club COULD be it. The potential is there for an owner/CEO with vision and skill.

How would he have benefitted by walking away? He effectively owns a business with no assets bar the sale of Olly McBurnie, something at the time no one had any idea what would happen. I'm not as clued up on football finance as some on here but surely if he had walked he would have stood to make what to me would be a very substantial loss?

Until football moves from which owner has the deepest pockets to a meritocracy I just can’t see anybody without a deep seated passion for a club wanting to own one

An interest free loan which was better than the Mark Lawn deal who charged 9% interest.

All I am saying Dennis is that last summer 2019 I spoke to Ryan Sparks and he told me that Rupp bailed us out. You described this as nonsense due to no mention in companies house. John Dewhirst in his article says that in FY 19 which is the 18/19 season Rupp loaned the club 1.8 million, which to me backs up what Sparks told me. You say I don’t want to believe facts, I say you don’t want to hear anything positive about Rupp but that’s a matter for you.

Very true and not only that when we failed to go up with those players signed with Lawns million,Lawn and Rhodes then pulled the plug after just one season of them. Despite the fact they had signed two year deals and it should have been a two year plan we in fact then did a fire sale and made it clear they had to go. So Lee went to Notts co, McClaren went , Bouldings took a wage cut but Brandon refused to take a cut so we were stuck with him. We then had three awful seasons till Parkinson had his summer transfer spree in 2012 which probably came from the Delph money. It was not always wine and roses with Lawn and Rhodes

Will that be Jenkins still then? As the new CEO?
I reckon it would have gone through if the government didn’t pull the plug on pilots and fans getting back into the ground
Surely it needs to be this side of Xmas as he mentioned negotiations will take place with wood and McCall and it won’t be him who does it?

In the context of the short term recovery job he was given - that's fine. But he's talking about progress over a 10 year period. We're in a worse position now than we were 10 years ago - financially similar, but with a worse squad.

Bottom line - it needs a significant change in leadership, strategy, ambition and execution to change the fortunes of this club. I appreciate that running a football club is hard - harder than its ever been. But I have loftier expectations than simply not going out of business.

I'd suggest your not alone, but the situation Rahic left us in was never going to be sorted overnight, as Julian says he was brought in to steady the ship and give the club some stability going forward.
A simple comment like "“Obviously, we have to get out of League Two at some point and hopefully that will happen. I’m not necessarily saying this season but hopefully" does not mean we arent trying and get out of this league as has been quoted above, I'm sure that is the intention of McCall and his backroom staff.

Surely he wouldn’t have been discussing it with Rhodes in last couple of. Months when he only took the EFL job in the summer?

Just glanced through the piece in the T&A and nowhere does it say that talks have been going on during the last couple of months. I may have missed it mind..

When have we been discussing it with him then? In the last few days? You’ve confused me here. Baldwin is and was in a job with the EFL. I highly doubt Rhodes has been talking to him to come in and as Rhodes says Rupp has asked him to hang onto it for the time being which suggests they were being appointed any time now? That already rules out Baldwin

Very good interview. If I remember a while back Rhodes saying the club was close to a replacement of CEO but something cropped up I wonder if that was Baldwin getting The league job

Haha Dennis. That would be a really comical appointment. Bit like Rahic promoting his head coach from the U18s......

Seems they don’t care the supporters are hurting seeing our decline and seemingly cement ourselves in L2 , just looking to convince themselves they are doing it right, whilst our results on the pitch in a piss poor league continue to underwhelm.

Supporters want a team to be proud of, that is a very hard claim to make right now. Results on the pitch with Rhodes here picking managers have been shambolic. Bowyer signed dross on top of dross. Good accounting doesn’t paper over those huge cracks and they are not related to overspend, just poor choices.

Rhodes will no doubt stay on till the end of the season and then the new guy comes in and gives us new optimism to boost ST sales, no point bringing him now and having a flat season, no ST sales boost in that scenario.

I think it's worse than not caring if we're hurting. I think they're misjudging how many fans feel. When you misunderstand your customers, you create disengagement and it leads to a decline in trade. That's a fairly staple principle.

We seem to poorly judge much of what we do at all levels.
