Surprised there wasn’t mention of which youth players will be offered deals.

 

As others have said I'm a bit surprised at a few of the players offered deals, but I think it's more to do with the fact that Sutton, Foulds and Hendrie are all probably on relatively low wages and MH may think he would struggle to find better back ups for what they're on, so may as well sign these 3 back on who are already integrated into the squad. I don't think anyone thinks they're good enough for 1st team but they are certainly more than acceptable back ups.

 

Offering Sutton a contract and not Cooke is bizarre.

 

They shouldn't be finding out on social media about being released OR about their new manager.

These lazy players should be checking their junk mail every day.

That's how this works.

 

Sutton is a very limited player and Cooke is twice the player he is.

Yet, I would guess Sutton has scored more goals over the last two seasons? That's even more bizarre.

I didn’t throw it at the club I mentioned it to highlight the lack of communication at the club. I.e players finding out their new manager via sky you mentioned meeting.

 

You were the one to say the club has lacked class since 2016. And still determine that is the case citing Twitter (he he) as a current source of reliable information that the club continues to lack class. ROD's wife HAS to believed as true what she tweeted?

 

I thought Hornby was out of contract this summer.

 

I'm absolutely certain they'll have been told informally, but you would think there would be a phone call ahead of an official announcement.

I don't know exactly what happened, what efforts were made, or how many players did/didn't know, so I can't really comment.

Certainly something the club can learn from, though, if ROD in particular is unhappy about the way this was announced.

Spot on, I was an advocate for a total fresh start with the squad, respecting those still under contract, however Hughes and Hodges has transformed quite a number of them. The irony is……Watt and Paudie were no 1 on my list to be shown the door. Not now!

 

If all of the players offered new contracts accept plus Pereira, it doesn't leave us much room for new signings. In that scenario I make it 16 contracted players that we had in our first team squad last season. Assuming a squad of approx. 22 first team players, that would mean six new signings on top of Walker and Pereira? Goalkeeper, right back, center back, two midfielders and a striker?

Doesn't sit right with me, but if we are going for quality over quantity we need to bring in some real quality and Walker is just the start.
