There are 2 things though. One the retained list isn't something that was just put together. As you see with the inclusion of players who are offered contracts but haven't yet accepted there may have been some who even yesterday wouldn't have been on the released list as the contracts were still waiting for the player to decide but the decisions would have been made at least a month ago. PL clubs who don't even need to announce theirs until the end of June have already told out of contract senior and youth players who can go, offered contracts to those they want to keep or triggered extensions. Just look at Man Utd, Harvey Neville was told he can go and has already signed for Inter Miami, Max Taylor has been talking about leaving United and Lee Grant has been told his services won't be needed (but has been offered a coaching role)

And 2nd of all do you think Adam's is going to risk breaching the terms of his contract or City are willing to risk sanction for having him breach the contract. I mentioned elsewhere that when Moyes took over at United, United offered Everton millions to cancel the contract the day after the final game of the season so Moyes could be involved in making more decisions on players but they refused so he wasn't able to be involved for about 6/7 weeks. Unless the deal with Adams is signed by all parties and there has been an agreement in there between the clubs that he is allowed to be involved right now which would involve additional cash then I just don't see. Even more so when it doesn't actually sound like anything has been agreed formally and that it largely hinges on if Morecombe fail to get through the playoffs. Infact if it hinges on Morecombe not going up does it even make sense for city to take his input into account? Imagine he insisted they keep some of the higher earners and then he doesn't come leaving City on the hook for the wages.

Actually, when you look at what T&S were saying the morning of the day they got removed from their roles I actually wonder if the new unspecified jobs they have been offered are actually in that rough realm of DoF? With the amount of manager turnover you have had having someone shaping the makeup of the squad and then getting a manager that can fit into that rather than a manager who would want to fully reshape it would make sense and if they want to maybe focus more on youth which from a financial and potential performance sense would make sense as buying older established players who are largely on the decline and have no resale value hasn't really worked well they might be pretty well suited for

Wow. I'm really struggling to see FCD as a CB. Haven't even seen Foulds so don't know about him

He was nowhere near what Riley was on when you signed him. I suspect he may have had a pay rise since then but certainly when he was signed he was a fair bit down your wage bill

yeah - I bet Salford thought they had 3 points in the bag a couple of weeks ago but for 2 great blocks and an unbelievable goal line clearance from him. I would have kept him but maybe it will work out well for club and player

From the statement when Turnball was appointed I'm not sure that's his job. It sounds much more like that role Moyes likes introducing at clubs that is focused on 'Infrastructure' rather than 'playing personnel'. The point being that you get the structure of the scouting and data analysis correct and ensure they have the best resources that are viable within the budget so when the person making decisions on playing personnel needs a player they are best positioned to aid them

That was my understanding also. Riley was reputed to be on silly money at City.

    Isnt that called a BOGOF.
Agreed, I don't think they are being offered their previous roles back and the ones on offer are much more in line with involvement in the first team set up.

Not really any surprises there apart from possibly Hornby given that ROD is still under contract and maybe Novak but the writing was probably on the wall for him after Sparks' interview on Monday when he said that we were looking at players who will be able to play week in week out for 40+ games a season.

It might depend on whether or not Evans is still here and how experienced our new signings turn out to be but if either Clarke or Donaldson are without a club towards the end of the transfer window I wouldn't be too shocked if we gave one of them a call with the offer of £10 and a bag of chips if they fancied warming the bench as a back up striker and being the archetypal "model pro" helping mentor some of the younger squad members.

Fair point on Cook. If the price is right im all for it.

Hossanah was a crock. Had ability but injuries worry me.

I've always stuck up for AOC but even I can't deny that might not be a bad assessment.

I think Canavan and Paudie are perfectly capable in L2, Regards pace can you name more than 1 City centre half with any pace since the prem team that was any good? All the best centre halves were slow, maybe not Graeme Lee slow but still slow

You won't be seeing a 442 if Adams gets it. Its one upfront and a target man at that with him.

Not surprised by Paudie's stats - he seemed to be the busiest defender in years with all the work expected of him :joy:
