Shimla Spice in Shipley is my go-to curry house. But I went to the International back in May and it was excellent.

I like the Shimla a lot, but the karela gosht from the Rajpoot nextdoor is my favourite curry. Lamb with "bitter melon" . Not many places do it.

The fish masala starter at the Shimla Spice is lovely.

I was doing a job in Lothersdale and parked outside the lovely looking Hare and Hounds pub. Has anyone been, if so is it any good?

Looks nice from the outside and had a look at their menu which looks extensive for a country style pub.

Went back to the Waterside in Shipley last week. Good stuff, as usual.
For those who think the menu is too small, they are now running two menus - a five course tasting menu and an a la carte, with about six choices per course. In my book, that is plenty. Too much choice just leaves me bamboozled.

Well, I said it wasn't quite there yet. Looks like it won't be getting there. Permanently closed :( .
That said opening 4 evenings a week with the latest booking 6.45pm was never going to work. Obviously they couldn't persuade @Fordy117@Fordy117 to part with his brass on a regular basis. Horsforth has loads of restaurants, and this was the only one claiming to be fine dining. There was definitely a gap in the market, but I can't help think their slightly arrogant attitude hasn't helped them.

We were there on Saturday evening. The food cheered us up after the miserable afternoon at Valley Parade.

A couple of months back we went to a new indian in Adel, Dastaan. Apparently same stable as Gymkhana in that London and award winning Dastaan in Epsom. I can only assume Southern Softies don't like anything with too much zing. To be fair the starters were fantastic so expecting great things, but the mains were really disappointing. We all had different, but 3 of the 4 were just bland. When the waiter asked how we enjoyed our mains I told him, very politely, and he seemed to take the huff. Not cheap at £250 for 4 including drinks and tip. The locals seem to be jizzing themselves over the place but we were just disappointed. It had only been open a week or so, so may improve.

While I'm on a roll I might as well do the rest of our recent Horsforth dining experiences.

The Forde on Town Street has become our regular ( any relation @Fordy117@Fordy117? ) . Very good food, so laid back its falling over, and not ridiculous money.

The Agora on New Road Side steady as always and cheap as chips.

Konek Meze on Town Street yet another Greek/Turkish restaurant in the area. First visit but was very good. Probably a notch up from the Agora in quality and price.

Then on Sunday popped into the Little Monk Belgian beer bar, just for a swift couple of beers from the enormous selection, including special Oktoberfest range. It turns out it has a sort of pop up Thai kitchen until Christmas. The food going past looked and smelled delicious so we couldn't resist ordering a selection of starters to nibble on. Very good and not expensive.

That's it for now. @millario@millario do I get a job :grinning:

Went for Sunday lunch at Forde a few weeks - didn’t think much of it tbh.
Quite a let down after a few good meals at the Foundry.

I wouldn't personally think of it as a Sunday lunch sort of place, but then we all like different things. A mate wasn't impressed with brunch there either, but loved it at night. Maybe I'm just trying too hard to be young and hip :joy:.
