Can anyone recommend a decent curry house at the Alhambra end of Town that either serves booze or allows BYOB?
I’m taking the missus to the Alhambra and always play it safe by visiting Omar Khans however fancy a change. I am wary though that lots of Bradford Curry houses appear to by “dry”. Well no matter how good the curry I’m not washing it down with a bloody Fanta!! Any help appreciated

We often have a similar quandry and, like you, have ended up at Omar Khans.

On one visit to the International (pre covid) I asked if they served booze and the fella said no, but that he'd go to the shop nearby for us if we wanted. He was halfway out the door before I declined the kind offer!

I wouldn't visit a restaurant that didn't serve alcohol. Curry without a beer is sacrilege

Aye, a good drink with a good meal go hand in hand for me. To get around that we've started going for a quick post-work curry rather than a full evening out.

I love a glass of wine with a 'normal' meal, but always have water with a curry.
Curry spoils the taste of beer for me and beer spoils the taste of the curry.
    Usually rip off prices too.

    It's down to personal preference.
I don't mind International, and they really are accommodating.
Not been to Omar's for years.
Kashmir is my choice that end of town.
    Can take your own alcohol.

Went to Omar Khan's for tea last night. A flying visit, but curries were bob-on.

Heads up: the bar's now closed but you can take your own booze.

I can just about manage a glass of dry white wine with a curry, but red just tastes like vinegar. Likewise any kind of standard bitter or darker ale.
My accompaniment preference is for a blonde/golden ale like Saltaire Blonde or Punk IPA, or else a fuller bodied lager like Cobra or Budvar.

Am probably too late here but Omar’s (not Omar Kahn’s ) is a decent curry . Not beer but don’t think it would be a issue if you took your own thou .
@millario@millario need you down to the royal Delhi in Brighouse for a review . I think it’s brilliant and they serve alcohol too .

Should have posted a reply to this a while ago, I went up to the International, took a bottle of white wine, the place was rammed at 17-30 so a good sign, jumped straight into the main courses, Mrs Meltham had a lamb saag, naan, which whilst ok was standard restaurant stuff. I ordered a Desi Lamb, OMG one of the best curry dishes I’ve ever had, the lamb was served on the bone and melted in your mouth the sauce was spicy without being overpowering, I’m already looking for an excuse to go back.
Also long overdue a night out in Brighouse, so will put the Royal Delhi on our radar!

I am not sure who it was on here that recommended Quinta in Ilkley, but we took their advice and went for Sunday lunch.
It was excellent food and great service.
I even told them that we had come because of Bantam Talk, the forum for Bradford City fans.
We'll add it alongside the Waterside when we next travel down to West Yorkshire.

So we had some great food. Sadly 2 of the most lauded and expensive restaurants were the most disappointing, but the others helped make up for it. Prices do seem to have increased everywhere, and the standard service charge now appears to be 12.5%. Highly recommended were One Fish Street, Porthmeor Beach Cafe and Cellar Bistro. Hugely disappointing were 27 The Terrace and Portminster Beach Cafe
